The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology, in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for a Clinical Hematologist to be based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry has been internationally recognized as among the world's top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada's premier health-education institutions. The Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) is an 800+ bed full-service teaching hospital, affiliated with the University of Alberta, located in the heart of Edmonton's city centre.

Key accountabilities of the this position will include, but will not be limited to, performing inpatient and outpatient hematology consultations, and management of a variety of non-malignant hematology problems. The successful candidate will share the clinical work with a group of full-time hematologists situated at RAH, and will work closely with other clinicians on site. The successful candidate will also be a member of the Division of Hematology at the University of Alberta, and will participate in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities of the Division. In addition, there will be opportunities to collaborate with other Divisional members in a variety of clinical and research activities .

The successful applicant will be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment in the Department of Medicine, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be an MD with certification in Internal Medicine and eligibility for certification in Hematology with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, and will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) . Clinical experience and training in thrombosis is an asset.
