The Position
The Data Engineer will be a vital member of the IT team and will support the company with the collection and storage of essential information and data. They will investigate opportunities for efficiency and improvement and create and streamline processes. They will troubleshoot problems with retrieving data and ensure that the company has enough storage available for the data that is collected. This individual will collaborate closely across departments, including Financial Operations, Finance, Accounting, Legal, Operations, People & Culture, Payroll, Marketing, and more. Our ideal candidate has experience utilizing AWS Redshift and Snowflake.

This individual will collaborate closely across departments, including Financial Operations, Finance, Accounting, Legal, Operations, People & Culture, Payroll, Marketing, and more. Our ideal candidate has experience utilizing AWS Redshift and Snowflake.
Specific Responsibilities
- Manage and consistently evaluate the design, development, selection, implementation and modification of data infrastructure based on business needs.
- Maintain data management plans and instructions for operating our network of business systems.
- Own software integration between multiple departments and the data warehouse, including managing API keys.
- Develop standards of operation when handling and archiving data.
- Establish and manage user roles, permissions, and access controls to protect sensitive data while enabling efficient workflows.
- Oversee the integration of new technologies and initiatives into data standards and structures.
- Assess system performance and make recommendations for hardware, software, and data storage improvements.
- Ensure data and information security by integrating and upholding digital security systems.
- Assist in basic maintenance of custom software application built in-house, which serves as our hospitals' KPI dashboard and CareVet intranet.
- Collaborate closely with the Financial Operations Team and Analysts to improve processes of data analysis and reporting.
- Coordinate with other team members to reach all project milestones and deadlines.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
- Residence in Greater St. Louis, MO area and willingness to work on-site 5 days a week.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL database and API management.
- Knowledge of different database systems including Microsoft SQL, Redshift, Oracle, etc.
- Knowledge of different programming languages such as R, Python, Java, React, etc.
- Knowledge of data visualization platforms such as Power BI and Tableau.
- In-depth understanding of modern database and information technologies.
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Excellent communication skills to translate complex problems into digestible terms.
- Strong math, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Exceptional time management skills.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and organize large amounts of data.
- Ability to compile and organize findings and data retrieved before presenting it to management.
- Thorough understanding of management and data administration duties such as collection, analysis, and distribution.
