Job Description:
CCS' Sustaining Engineering Manager is responsible for the administration and performance of the Sustaining Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Team. This includes project engineering management for new and existing products, Engineering Test lab management; Drawings, Bill of Materials, Travelers, Test Procedures, Work Instructions and other document management. General duties include: administration of company policies; employee training; quality and continuous improvement of department operations and processes; establishing departmental objectives and plans in accordance with company goals; and implementation of departmental plans. The Sustaining Engineering Manager reports to CCS' President.
The position is based in CCS-Phoenix and may require moderate domestic and international travel and direct customer interface.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the Mechanical and Electrical Sustaining Engineering Team including the supervision of employees who perform drafting, design, test lab functions, and a broad range of clerical duties, for meeting production, delivery, quality, and cost and safety objectives.
- Supervise new and existing product design work, production support, prototype development, engineering lab testing, preparation of technical procedures, proposals and reports, failure analysis investigations and engineering document control.
- Provide training and guidance to ensure company-wide disciplined compliance with product and process development following the APQP process.
- Provide technical support and guidance to ensure ongoing compliance with all certification requirements for Quality standards and Aerospace and Industrial products.
- Maintain and upgrade as necessary, the design and test computer hardware and software used by Engineering.
- Interact with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain and Quality departments and external customers as needed on proposal development, product performance, product improvements, tooling needs, document change and various other support issues.
- Plan and administer procedures and work instructions for the Engineering Department in accordance with the company's AS9100 Quality Management System.
- Contribute to CCS's continuous improvement efforts through engineering process enhancements including a focus on developing new Automated Test Equipment and upgrading existing ones that are robust and easy to use, with time savings.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws.
- Interview, hire, train, plan, assign, direct work, appraise performance; reward; and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
- Develop a strong, efficient and respected Sustaining Engineering Team through technical leadership, guidance and mentorship.
Skills and Requirements:
- Applicant must be ITAR compliant.
- 15 years of mechanical/electrical engineering design and project experience with increasing responsibility in technical products for global Aerospace OEM customers.
- 3 years of engineering management experience.
- Bachelor Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college. Master's Degree in a related field for this position would be a plus.
- Proficient in 2D and 3D design using Solid Works or similar 3D software.
- Experience with ANSI 14.5M for Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT).
- Electrical Mechanical Product assembly, testing and prototyping experience.
- Familiarity with electrical circuit and PCB designs desirable.
- Experience using Microsoft Project or equivalent software for project management.
- Team leadership and experience in product and process development
- Possess strong commitment to team environment dynamics with the ability to contribute expertise and follow leadership directives at appropriate times.
- Engineering experience with electro-mechanical system components to aerospace OEMs.
- Ability to coordinate multiple programs and changing priorities simultaneously
- Results- and action-oriented ownership of cross-functional team performance meeting customer and internal program requirements and deadlines
- Strong analytical abilities
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
- Confident, articulate, and professional speaking abilities and experience.
- Ability to work well with limited supervision
