Key Responsibilities
  • Provides role model leadership for safety culture and behavior on capital projects.
  • Self-directed and works without appreciable direction to execute through to project completion.
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining project objectives of assignment.
  • Completed work is reviewed from a long-term perspective, for desired results.
  • Provides imaginative, thorough, practical, solutions that are consistent with organizational objectives to a wide range of projects.
  • Plans and conducts assignments involving the larger and more important projects or more than one project.
  • Able to solve complex operating issues through collaboration with peers, and the assistance of direct reports or next level management.
  • Poor decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major objectives.
  • Coordination and oversight of contractors and production management to optimize project efficiencies.
  • Defines the scope and objectives of projects responsible for based on operational needs.
  • Liaison normally involves specific phases of a task, engineering project or operation.
  • Negotiation, leadership, assertiveness, and follow-through skills are key to successful completion of tasks.
  • Conducts briefings to Senior Management on project health.
  • Determine scope, budget, and timeline of small to intermediate projects.
  • Clearly demonstrates ownership of the financial results of assigned projects or functional areas, influences others to do same.
  • Understands the profitability impact of projects and manages accordingly.

Required Skills
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Applies extensive project principles and has full knowledge of functional area.
  • Applies knowledge of more advanced systematic and creative problem-solving tools.
  • Effective Communications Skills (verbally, written, presentation).
  • Collaborates effectively with plant engineering, maintenance, and leadership.
  • Able to rapidly acquire knowledge of the site(s) including chemical processes and physical layout.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, Excel, and e-mail
  • Highly capable in generating Gantt charts for project scheduling and tracking.

Education, Certifications & Licenses
  • 5-10+years with BS in Engineering preferred. Alternately, a related field and PMP certification would be considered.
  • Supervisory training and experience a plus, but not required.
  • Significant project management experience.
  • Shows indications of being able to influence other groups.

Travel
  • Travel to Monterey, Mexico 20%-30% during critical times.
