The Opportunity

At DAT Freight & Analytics, we are seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Director of Product Management to lead our product teams focused on Enterprise, IQ & Data initiatives. This crucial role will drive the strategic direction and execution of our data engineering efforts, ensuring we deliver innovative and impactful solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers and stay ahead of market trends.

As a product led company, DAT believes in falling in love with the problem not the solution. We believe our first job is to develop customer insight and to then test and learn our way into creating valuable products that our customers love from that insight. We want Product Leaders that are customer obsessed, and great crafting problem statements to lead by empowering the teams. Our product leader's job is to frame business or customer problems to solve, and then letting the product teams determine the best way to solve those problems. We are looking for data driven leaders with deep product playbooks.

What You'll Do

Product Strategy and Roadmap Development:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy and roadmap for the Enterprise, IQ & Data product portfolios, aligning with the company's overall vision and objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, data science, and business stakeholders, to define and prioritize product requirements and initiatives.
  • Conduct market research, analyze customer feedback, and identify emerging trends and opportunities to drive product innovation.

Product Management Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor a team of product managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide strategic guidance and oversight to the product teams, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.
  • Establish and maintain product management best practices, processes, and tools to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

Data Engineering and Analytics Initiatives:
  • Spearhead the development and execution of data engineering and analytics initiatives, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and subject matter experts to define and implement data-driven solutions that drive business value.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and security standards are upheld across all data initiatives.

Customer Focus and Stakeholder Management:
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer needs, pain points, and market dynamics to inform product decisions and strategies.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, and internal teams, to gather insights and align product vision.
  • Represent the product organization in executive-level meetings and communicate product strategies, roadmaps, and progress effectively.

Team Leadership and Talent Development:
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, promoting cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing.Attract, retain, and develop top talent, providing mentorship, coaching, and growth opportunities for product managers and team members.
  • Cultivate a customer-centric and data-driven mindset within the product organization.

The Skills You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Administration; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in product management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience with empirical testing methodologies.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing data products.
  • Background in SaaS (Software as a Service) business models.
  • Proven track record of leading and delivering successful data engineering, analytics, and enterprise software products.
  • Deep understanding of data engineering principles, technologies, and best practices.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in leading and developing high-performing teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in agile methodologies and product management frameworks.

For Colorado-based candidates, in compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the minimum salary for this role is $231,000 + benefits. The maximum compensation for this role can vary significantly depending on your job-related skills and experience. DAT considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education and training, core skills, internal equity, and market and business elements when extending an offer.
