The primary objective of our Client Solutions Team ("CS Team") is to retain and grow client relationships efficiently. The team does this through managing relationships and communication with clients that builds long-term value for the firm. The development of strong relationships allows the CS Team to better understand client objectives in order to deliver solutions that are tailored to meet each client's objectives as well as to provide insights back to the firm's leadership and investment teams on evolving client needs and industry trends. Our CS Team has built and maintains a first-class reputation in client relationship management through a disciplined approach that is thoughtful, proactive, responsive and flexible.

We are looking for an experienced Institutional Client Portfolio Manager for our CS Team. The successful candidate will work in a team environment and have primary responsibility for all aspects of client relationship management across a wide variety of institutional clients and investment mandate types. The position will be based in CC&L's Toronto or Vancouver office.

What You Will Do

The Portfolio Manager, Client Solutions will manage all aspects of client relationships for a group of the firm's institutional clients and will:
  • Manage relationships with clients based primarily in central and eastern Canada
  • Develop and execute strategic client objectives and plans
  • Work collaboratively and be supported by the Product Specialists for the investment teams and the Client Relationship Analysts (team resources dedicated to supporting the Portfolio Managers) to prepare and present materials for clients with varied levels of investment understanding
  • Have responsibility for written and verbal communications, including making presentations to institutional clients.
  • Act as an important information source for the firm's leadership as it relates to client and industry perspectives
  • Operate collaboratively with the organization's support teams to improve on all aspects of the firm's client service responsibilities
  • Participate in the development and execution of the CS Team's strategic goals and objectives

What You Bring
  • Market Knowledge: You have at least 7 years of capital market experience with exposure to all major asset classes and have a CFA (preferred) CAIA or MBA designation.
  • Passion for Building Exceptional Client Relationships: You bring a client-centric approach and have a natural affinity to working with people and building long-term relationships. You have a demonstrated ability to build trust and confidence in managing relationships with institutional clients.
  • Versatility: You have demonstrated ability to consolidate and focus a large amount of information across a wide array of investment strategies and client types into succinct written or verbal communications.
  • Strong communication and presentation: You possess strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to connect with a wide variety of institutional clients of varied level of investment understanding.
  • Collaborative Communication: You have a collaborative spirit and a proven ability to work with a team of senior investment professionals.
  • Multi-tasking: The role offers the opportunity to combine interpersonal and analytical skills.
