The Department of Health Services (DHS) , Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI) is currently recruiting for an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP).

Position Summary

As an APNP, you will be responsible for caring for the non-psychiatric primary care needs of patients at MMHI primarily within the Mendota Juvenile Treatment Center (MJTC). You will evaluate and care for new admission referrals and provide ongoing care for existing patients. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Completion of intake histories and physical exams on new patient admissions
  • Coordinating cares of ongoing treatment plans
  • Collaborating with outside referrals for subspecialty cares
  • Assisting Medical Clinic providers in providing quality medical care


Salary Information

Starting annual salary may be up to $133,000 per year, plus excellent benefits.

  • Pay schedule and range is 11/01.
  • A 12-month probationary period is required.
  • Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.


Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by the facility or medical personnel directed by the facility within 30 days of the start date.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • Licensure as an APNP by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services .
  • Experience or education diagnosing and managing acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Experience working with a clinical care team (e.g. nursing, therapy services, pharmacy, dietary services, etc.).

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience working with Electronic Health Records (EHR) software (e.g. Cerner, Epic, etc.).
  • Experience working with psychiatric patients in a locked, secure setting.
  • Experience working with an adolescent patient population.
  • Experience caring for patients in a primary care or long-term care setting.
