The Department of Neurology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, is seeking a Speech Language Pathology Consultant to join the Division of Speech Pathology, housed in the Department of Neurology. The division currently has three Speech Language Pathology Consultants. The department of neurology includes nearly 100 board-certified neurologists, offering highly skilled, state-of-the art hospital-based and ambulatory neurological care.
Speech Language Pathology consultants primarily provide differential diagnosis of speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders in adults and children in the outpatient setting SLP Consultants work closely with physician colleagues in many Neurology subspecialties, including neuromusuclar disorders, movement disorders, and behavioral neurology, as partners in the diagnostic work-up and to provide clinical recommendations. The clinical practice also includes treatment of complex disorders of speech, language, cognition, and swallowing as well as differential diagnosis consultation for hospitalized patients. SLP Consultants engage in educational activities including but not limited to mentoring post-doctoral fellows and trainees from neurology, neurophysiology, prosthodontics, PMR, ENT and other disciplines during formal rotations within speech pathology. SLP Consultants engage in research, often collaboratively with trainees and/or in the context of an established research laboratory.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess their CCC-SLP, a PhD in Speech Pathology or related discipline, and be board eligible or board-certified by the Academy of Neurologic Communication Disorders and Sciences
Candidate must also be eligible for speech-language pathology licensure by the Minnesota Department of Health.
