As the Controller, you are responsible for the accounting operations of the Calgary region including financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate, timely financial statements, and working papers
  • Prepare reporting packages for lenders and management
  • Provide oversight in land pro forma preparation and project financial review
  • Prepare cash flow, financial projections, and forecasting
  • Ensure efficient and effective internal controls are in place for accounting & finance processes
  • Oversight on banking, insurance, and treasury management
  • Liaise with the executive & management team, lenders, auditors, lawyers, CRA, title companies, and homeowners as needed
  • Manage the accounting team

Qualifications
  • Degree in accounting or finance
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • 3+ years of experience with a public practice firm focused on private industry
  • CPA/CA certification
  • Previous experience in land development or residential construction is an asset
  • Financial acumen and knowledge of fiscal activities including budgeting, reporting, and auditing
  • Effective analytical, problem solving, critical thinking & decision-making skills
  • Strong negotiation, mediation and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to execute complex financial models and forecasts
  • Professional & effective communication skills
  • Self-starter with high degree of initiative, adaptability, and flexibility
  • Ability to work in a high stress, fast-paced, team-oriented environment
