The new Master of Climate Solutions at the Rausser College is designed with a relentless focus on identifying the skills and experiences professionals need to accelerate their careers and maximize the impact they have on our planet. This one-year professional program translates fundamental science and groundbreaking discoveries, enabling professionals to learn how to evaluate technologies, develop just climate strategies, and remove barriers to implementing practical climate solutions around the world.
Under the general guidance of the Master of Climate Solutions (MCS) program leadership and in collaboration with the dean's office staff, the incumbent will develop and coordinate job opportunities, provide employment counseling and relevant career education to the MCS students and alumni. Applying advanced professional career development concepts, conducts strategic needs assessments of gaps in the career program, and plans and develops program improvements and new career services to help students / alumni in career planning, setting career goals, and improving search competencies. Researches, plans, and develops relationships with potential employers, to meet the career development needs of students and / or alumni. Provides career counseling for populations that require special expertise especially in emerging job markets related to climate and sustainability.

Responsibilities
- Establishes and cultivates relationships with corporations and other organizations related to career services for Master in Climate (MCS) students and alumni, including the development and delivery of broad and complex career-focused programs and events that incorporate the needs of organization partners and constituents.
- Conducts needs assessments, and collaborates with faculty and other members of the University community in course design and development, as well as researches, designs, and develops workshops and programs to meet the career need of students and alumni.
- Participates in student recruitment and admission efforts, including the development of relevant communication materials and supports the application review process.
- Provides career counseling in particularly complex areas that require specialized expertise and in emerging job market areas.
- Effectively utilizes career program technical systems, and uses thorough knowledge of career program and information systems to build applications and improve web sites and other supporting technologies.
- Participate in professional development opportunities. Must complete annual mandated training, and other training as directed.
- Advanced knowledge of career development theories, adult development theory, counseling processes, career coaching techniques, career decision making, learning styles, and job search techniques.
- Advanced knowledge of needs assessment theory, processes, and practice; workshop and program design.
- Skill in employing excellent marketing skills to place Master in Climate Solutions (MCS) students and alumni with appropriate employers.
- Experience assisting students and alumni in developing appropriate job search skills and strategies to achieve their employment goals.
- Working knowledge of the climate and sustainability, relevant job markets spanning the public, non-profit and private sector (in the US and internationally).
- Highly effective problem identification and problem-solving skills, presentation skills, verbal communication, written communication, relationship-building, teamwork, and organization skills.
- Experience counseling students individually and in group situations regarding careers and professional development needs.
- Strong ability to design and modify computer applications to meet program needs, problem identification, presentation skills, verbal communication, written communication, and organization skills.
- Leadership and guidance skills with a proven ability to manage, balance, and prioritize different tasks and projects.
- Advanced project management skills, sufficient to create, plan and implement new projects in service to the MCS student and alumni.
- Advanced knowledge of employer recruiting strategies, job market trends, and occupational, career, and employment information sources.
- Demonstrated experience interacting with diverse individuals and groups, exercising diplomacy, good judgment, and discretion.
- Oral communications skills to communicate effectively and diplomatically with students, alumni, faculty, legal employment community, administration and staff.
- Skill in listening perceptively and conveying understanding, establishing rapport, gaining trust, motivating others, and stimulating people to effective action.
- Skill in working independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, faculty, administrators, and representatives of the external firms and organizations.

- Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
