Position Overview
The Craft Manager is responsible for overseeing the 2nd shift operations and employees in Electrical, Temporary Services, Paint, Lagging, Carpentry, and Pipe Departments. Provides direction to ensure the quality, cost-effective, and timely completion of work associated with all Company contracts and projects for which the department is responsible, including but not limited to providing technical guidance to Craft Supervisors and Employees. Actively participates in all phases of project performance and personnel related functions, including but not limited to project planning and execution, budgeting, the hiring and supervision of employees, terminations/reorganizations, workforce reductions, and employee promotions and demotions. Holds Supervisors and Employees accountable to comply with the Company policies and procedures.

Position Overview

Responsibilities
- Ensuring that the Departments are pursuing Company goals for Safety, Quality, and Productivity.
- Developing and/or reviewing project schedules and budgets during the planning phase including communicating feasibility of plans.
- Allocating personnel and resources to efficiently support all contracts (including shift work).
- Overseeing and monitoring schedule performance, including review of ongoing and upcoming projects, investigation of late activities, and assistance with project supervision and the development of practical solutions all issues preventing timely and effective project completion.
- Monitoring and evaluating project budget performance, including review of ongoing and upcoming projects, the development of productivity enhancements, and the investigation of over-budget items.
- Monitoring productivity across all shifts, including the amount and type of work assigned, as well as the quality and quantity of work accomplished.
- Investigating new technologies to improve the Company's capabilities and productivity.
- Overseeing personnel-related functions, including hiring, leadership, performance management, terminations, reorganizations, promotions, and demotions.
- Ensuring that employees understand and adhere to company policies.
- Overseeing training employees in the areas of technical knowledge, safety, environmental, and communication.
Required Skills and Education
- Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience
- Ability to read and comprehend NAVSEA standard items.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge in the relevant trade.
- Ability to obtain DBIDS to access Military Base
- Experience in Program/Project Management
- Experience in People Management/Leadership
- Experience in Ship Repair or Maritime industry
- Experience in Craft/Skilled Trades environments
- Ability to effectively plan, schedule, supervise, and direct projects to completion
- Ability to allocate resources cross-functionally to meet schedule, cost, and quality requirements
- Ability to lead, mentor, coach, and develop diverse teams
- Ability to use discretion and judgment in making operations and personnel decisions
- Ability to lead improvements and organizational change
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
