POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Manager of Safety is responsible for implementing and leading safety programs across assigned OmniTRAX railroads. As a key safety resource for property managers and employees, this role actively drives improvements and implements risk mitigation strategies. The Senior Manager works collaboratively to foster a strong safety culture, ensure adherence to safe work practices, and maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
In addition, the Senior Manager of Safety develops and delivers safety training for engineering department employees, including roadway workers, track inspectors, and signal maintenance personnel. The incumbent also oversees compliance and recordkeeping related to safety training and certification for the engineering department. As the designated subject matter expert in engineering department safety, the Senior Manager provides critical guidance and expertise. At all times, the Senior Manager of Safety embodies the company's core values of safety, honesty, ownership, respect, and teamwork in all partnerships with field operations employees.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a collaborative member of the OmniTRAX safety department with maturity and initiative, driving continuous improvement and a mature safety culture across the entire OmniTRAX network.
- Develop, deliver, and lead safety training across the OmniTRAX network for engineering department employees.
- Manage compliance and reporting for engineering department training and certification.
- Assure compliance with OmniTRAX safety rules and federal safety regulations.
- Provide leadership in developing and executing safety and compliance policies and procedures for assigned properties through teaching and coaching.
- Drive successful attainment of safety and compliance goals, objectives, and targets at assigned railroads through partnership with leaders and employees.
- Measure and monitor FRA and OSHA compliance and adherence to company safety policies through incident reviews and on-site audits, identifying and implementing process, procedure, and policy improvements.
- Lead incident investigations on assigned properties, ensuring thorough and timely investigations of accidents, incidents, and near misses. Additionally, serve as the subject matter expert for incidents involving engineering employees across the entire network, providing support to other Senior Managers where engineering expertise is required, and ensuring root cause identification and mitigation efforts.
- Monitor changes to safety and compliance regulations as they relate to engineering department safety, identifying updates and making recommendations for incorporation into the Safety Management System and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety and compliance audits on assigned properties, as well as team audits across the network as requested. Draft post-audit reports, recommending corrective actions and ensuring follow-up to completion.
- Ensure regulatory requirements are met for training and certification of engineering department employees.
- Manage expenses responsibly.
- Assist in planning and potential future development of the OmniTRAX Training Center.

- Implement special projects aligned with company objectives related to safety and compliance.
- Attend industry meetings and seminars as required.
- Develop reports as needed.
- Participate in risk assessments, identifying risks and recommending corrective actions.
- Assist in setting priorities and safety goals for assigned properties.
- Be available for nonstandard work weeks as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree, or high school diploma/GED with 20+ years of railroad experience.
- 10+ years of railroad management experience.
- Expertise in engineering d1epartment safety.
- Experience delivering classroom and on-the-job training for engineering department personnel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively at all levels of the company and with external partners.
- Strong teaching, training, and presentation abilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- High level of professional integrity and accountability.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in rolling out and executing training programs.
- Knowledge of GCOR, FRA, and OSHA regulations within a railroad environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
- Valid Driver's License

COMPENSATION
- Estimated Starting Annual Salary: $106,283
- FLSA Status: Exempt, Not Eligible for Overtime
- Eligible for Participation - Annual Discretionary Bonus
