JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Vice President of Engagement and Insights, the Sr. Manager - Engagement and Insights is an important member of the fundraising team whose main function is to utilize business intelligence and analytics content to create insights for fundraising leadership to boost revenue generation. This position will also monitor market trends both within and outside of the fundraising area and will help identify key areas for growth and exploration. They will focus on the success of the fundraising department by creating concrete, carefully thought out, and conclusive analysis reports that provide important insights to the fundraising leadership. This position will be a key contributor in maintaining the prioritization processes as it relates to fundraising, so support teams are clear on what the priorities are at all times and solutions issues as they arise. Please note this role is not a BI developer role.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Performs analysis on fundraising performance across all streams of revenue development.
  • Reviews and oversees the maintenance of revenue development reporting
  • Works closely with key leaders in the revenue development team to prioritize the development of new analytics and performance reporting, campaign summaries, year over analysis, etc. as required by the business
  • Monitors and ensures data quality and functional behaviours of revenue development reporting in collaboration with data and analytics support teams
  • Provides trend analysis for fundraising as a whole and deeper level trend analysis on demand
  • Identifies and prioritizes areas for improvement, innovation, enhancements, efficiencies
  • Recommendations areas to achieve overall revenue development goals based on insights from analysis for fundraising
  • Focuses on the overall health of the fundraising department, collaborating with leadership to identify areas with lagging or at-risk indicators and recommend strategies
  • Creates carefully thought out, and conclusive campaign summary reports that provide important insights for the fundraising leadership
  • Works closely with our data analysts, data engineers, BI specialists and analytics managers within support teams to produce dashboards, visualization and manage the revenue development backlog
  • Provide quality control oversight on all revenue development reporting
  • Prepare summaries and reports on program performance for key leaders in fundraising as part of the annual cycle as well as on demand
  • Ensure consistency between summaries and fixes any inconsistencies with the support teams
  • Enhances data governance program as a fundraising data steward, promoting and ensuring data quality, consistency, and compliance
  • Liaison with data governance committees, groups, and leadership on behalf of fundraising
  • Ensures consistency between definitions and application to reporting (i.e. retention, lifetime value, etc.)
  • Helps establish core KPI's that feed into reporting for fundraising such as digital, brand and more

Supports special projects and other initiatives that support the Revenue Development team.
  • Participates in select projects on behalf of the fundraising department as it relates to digital transformation, change management, reporting, analysis, etc.
  • Provides the intelligence for key reports, plans, market research, for areas of fundraising as required
  • Participates in other initiatives as required by the VP Engt. & Insights

Upholds and supports the prioritization process between support teams and fundraising
  • Works to ensure the identified priorities listed in the organizations budget and planning processes and fundraising growth strategy are prioritized and direction is clear for the support teams
  • Works with key fundraising leaders to shift priorities at their direction and to ensure all planning processes are updated
  • Flags blockers to progress of priorities or conflicting priorities that leadership needs to rectify
  • Provides updates to key leaders on progress of initiatives as required
  • Solutions for challenges
  • Develops processes as required to support prioritization
  • Upholds the pilots and tests process

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • More than 5 years, up to and including 10 years - extensive job-related experience in progressively more senior positions.
  • Post-secondary education such as acquiring a university degree in a relevant discipline. Requires a professional designation.
  • Demonstrated ability of being able to perform a variety of analysis and generate insights, such as trend analysis, regression, correlation, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of systems, such as CRM (Salesforce), Tableau CRM, Marketing Cloud, Google Analytics, Excel etc.
  • Experience in using outputs of performance reporting,
  • Can monitor various types of performance reporting and flag issues of quality
  • Strong presentation preparation and delivery skills
  • Can take complex information, visualizations, and reporting, and translate them into easy-to-understand actionable recommendations
  • Ability to reflect and present recommendations based on data
  • Is a self-starter with the ability to problem solve and act independently
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite, most importantly excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement and maturity in dealings with a variety of constituents.
  • Strong organizational skills, an aptitude for numbers and the ability to pay attention to details are necessary attributes
  • Experience in dealing with high volume of work, tight deadlines and ability to deal with competing priorities
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of Canadian Cancer Society policies and procedures is an asset
  • Ability to speak French is an asset
  • Flexibility to perform other job requirements as assigned
