POSITION SUMMARY: CHN, a $28Million nonprofit located in Tampa, Florida has a need for an energetic, self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, critical thinking experienced Senior Accountant for its complex, fast paced deadline driven accounting team. This newly created key position will serve as the right hand to and report directly to the CFO. This position is a specialized accounting position assisting in the recording and analysis of accounting activity and preparation of financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
SALARY: $90,000+ depending on experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
General. Documents and maintains complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions responsible for. Maintains financial internal controls, policies, and procedures. Completes and applies the Federal Indirect Cost Rate proposal. Provides technical advice and assistance to staff with regard. Financial Activity. Oversees and performs monthly and year-end recording of financial activity on an accrual basis. Responsible for communicating changes so that accurate allocation of shared expenses to applicable departments/programs is performed by all Fiscal staff. Properly records and reconciles intercompany transactions monthly and initiates cash transfers between bank accounts for CFO approval. Performs investment account reconciliations in a timely manner according with organization policy. Ensures assigned balance sheet accounts are reconciled and balances are appropriate. Performs monthly occupancy, G&A, and other allocations as assigned. Reviews funder reimbursement report requests prepared by Revenue Manager. Reviews monthly & year-end work papers prepared by other Senior Accountant & Accounting Manager. Responsible for recording and releasing restricted contributions, and recording of bequest & estate accounts receivables, revenue recognition, and audit report note disclosures. Prepares monthly and year-end accruals as assigned. General Insurance. Assists with commercial insurance coverage and renewals. Compliance. Ensures all financial transactions and records are recorded and prepared in accordance with GAAP, FASB and follow applicable governmental rules and regulations. Budgeting & Reporting. Reviews monthly financial reports and budget variances for reasonableness before sending to CFO for review and analysis. Assists with the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets. Prepares and responds to correspondence regarding the Residential Title IVE Template budget compilations for funder approved daily rates. Performs budget compilation & MIP uploads and budget spreads. Completes various requested financial reporting by outside entities and ad hoc dashboards, analysis, and reporting for management and auditors. Audits and Returns. Serves as liaison and coordinates annual external financial audits. Assists with audit work paper preparation and fieldwork requests from financial auditors and assists the Revenue Manager with funder audit reviews. Prepares schedules for filing of 990s, financial audits, worker's compensation premium audits, 401K plan audit, and 5500's annually.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required, and active CPA licensure preferred.
- Minimum seven (7) years progressively responsible accounting experience managing a general ledger, preparing financial statements, performing routine review of accounting functions and assisting with budget preparation.
- Strong understanding and experience applying GAAP, AICPA accounting and auditing standards.
- Must have experience with multi-cost center environment along with advanced skills using Microsoft Office products, especially in the use of Excel.
- Excellent organizational, time management and follow-up skills; demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; proven ability to clearly communicate complex financial concepts to a non-financial leaders within the organization.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of proper recording of unrestricted and restricted revenue sources including endowment funds.
- Ability to gather and analyze data in order to produce reports and make improvement recommendations.
- Advanced MS Excel skills and financial modeling and familiarity with ERP accounting software.
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent financial and analytical skills; strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency with multiple accounting software packages and capacity to learn new packages.
Licenses & Certifications:
- CPA preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license with no record of criminal driving offense of license suspension.
- Must possess means of providing job related transportation and show proof of required insurance. Must be insurable under CHI's current auto insurance policy.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Must successfully complete and maintain FDLE clearance, Federal background and state criminal background check and sexual predator screening.
