Position Summary:
The Assistant Director, Student Information Training and Support, provides strategic leadership in developing and delivering professional development for District-wide Student Information System (SIS) users, with a specific focus on empowering school leaders to make effective data informed decisions. This role emphasizes adult learning, facilitation, customer-focused support, and a solution-oriented approach to problem-solving. The Assistant Director will guide the SIS team in creating robust training resources and support structures, ensuring that all staff have the skills and knowledge to manage student data confidently. This position is instrumental in fostering a responsive, collaborative culture, aligned with the District's commitment to operational efficiency and continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education, information systems, business administration, or a related field or equivalent experience
- Experience working in or supporting school leaders in a K-12 educational setting, with expertise in adult learning and facilitation.
- Proven success in a customer-service oriented environment, with a demonstrated ability to design solutions that meet the unique needs of school leaders and district staff.
- Experience in leading cross-functional projects to enhance SIS implementation and support.
Required:
- Strong project management skills, with a proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using processes in a Student Information System platform, with advanced understanding of school and district organizational rhythms and seasons of work.
- Excellent communication skills, with a particular strength in facilitating adult learning and translating technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- A collaborative mindset with a strong desire to help others, fostering an environment of accountability, professional growth, and continuous learning.
Preferred:
- Experience with using core processes in PowerSchool, SIS
- Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO) certification or similar qualifications in educational data management
Essential Functions:
Strategic Program Development
- Lead the development of a District-wide SIS training strategy, prioritizing solutions that empower school leaders to make data-driven decisions.
- Design professional development programs that emphasize adult learning, incorporating best practices and continuous feedback to enhance the user experience.
Team leadership and Mentorship:
- Supervise and mentor the SIS Training and Support team, fostering a collaborative and customer-focused culture.
- Establish clear goals and growth pathways for team members, aligning their work with SIS objectives and high-performance outcomes.
Resource Development and Support
- Direct the creation of support materials, including user manuals and on-demand resources, to enhance accessibility and usability for end-users.
- Oversee support operations, ensuring timely responses to inquiries and proactive engagement with school leaders to address their specific needs.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
- Partner with Central Office departments and school leaders to align SIS training and support district initiatives and operational goals.
- Act as a liaison for SIS stakeholders, providing expert guidance on best practices, data governance, and compliance.
Data Quality and Compliance
- Enforce data quality standards and practices across SIS functions to ensure reliable data management and reporting.
- Establish measures for data accuracy, supporting compliance with all state and federal reporting requirements.
Knowledge Management and Communication
- Develop and maintain a knowledge management system to improve access to SIS resources, enhancing district-wide communication.
- Publish regular SIS updates and facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions to keep staff informed of best practices and system enhancements.
Continuous Improvement and Customer Service
- Regularly assess and refine SIS training and support strategies based on user feedback, ensuring alignment with district needs and continuous service improvement.
- Promote innovative usage of SIS features to support efficient operations and effective data use, providing responsive and proactive support to school leaders.
