Overview
The Principal System Safety Engineer position is a full-time exempt position. The individual will lead and/or support software safety engineering tasks to include system architecture, system requirements, software development and assessment. The individual will apply engineering knowledge and discipline to develop system software safety solutions for missile systems. The individual will report to the Air & Missile Defense Systems Program Director.

Responsibilities
- Lead and/or support the development and execution of software safety plans and documents such as; Safety Assessment Reports, Requirements Specifications, Software Test Plans and Test Procedures.
- Perform engineering trade studies to support weapon system software safety design and/or analysis.
- Document and present technical results to engineering leads, management and/or customers.
- Provide technical participation in engineering and program reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM), and/or working group meetings.
- Interface with other members of the engineering team to provide engineering and analytic support to system design and trade studies.
- Support other duties as assigned.
Skills and Competencies
- BS degree in Aerospace or Systems Engineering or related field required. MS degree preferred.
- At least 18 years of experience supporting DoD programs.
- Experience with software safety engineering for DoD application.
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience with relevant MIL standards 882E, 1553, etc.
- Experience with software design, development and test for complex weapon systems.
- Experience with C++, Ada, JAVA, and other scripting languages.
- Ability to operate successfully in a dynamic program environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Clearance
- Active Secret Clearance required. Top Secret Clearance preferred
