Reliability Engineer

Job Description:

MACOM is seeking a staff-level engineer in its semiconductor reliability group. The candidate filling this role will participate in planning, executing, and analyzing process reliability experiments for semiconductor technologies used by MACOM.The work primarily focuses on compound semiconductor technologies (GaAs and GaN), but may also include assessment of other semiconductor devices such as Si PIN diodes or MOS capacitors.This is a hands-on, lab based position, with responsibilities that will include test system development, DC and RF electrical characterization of active and passive devices, data collection, analysis and reporting, and support of failure analysis.The successful candidate will be self-motivated and able to excel in a dynamic environment.

Job Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of semiconductor physics and device operation
  • Experience with electrical measurements, including RF test experience
  • Familiarity with statistical data analysis using software tools such as Excel, JMP, or Minitab
  • Experience with thermal modeling and/or physical device modeling a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Problem solving skills - must be capable of analyzing weakly defined requirements, ultimately defining the issues and developing long and short term solutions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or higher in electrical engineering, physics, materials science, or a similar discipline
  • Familiarity with software languages used for control of test equipment, such as Python, C/C++, or LabView
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical results, both through written reports and presentations
