Purpose of Position: The purpose of this position is to assist the Comptroller with maintaining financial records specific to Auxiliary Services, including Building Services and Food Services; to prepare and issue accurate and timely financial reports and analysis to District administrators, the Board of Education, and outside agencies; to ensure financial obligations are met; maintain internal accounting control system to assure assets are secure against loss, unauthorized use, or disposition; and ensure financial transactions are completed according to management authorization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following represents responsibilities for this position working in conjunction with the Comptroller and the Planning, Budget, Procurement and Accounting Services team. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Fiscal management
    • Accounts receivable.
    • Collections
    • Reconciliations.
    • Budget monitoring and analysis
    • Inventory management

  • Financial reporting
    • Monthly State and Federal Food and Nutrition Claims to the Department of Public Instruction
    • Commodities
    • Internal audit.
    • Preparing journal entries
    • Referenda reporting

  • Financial transaction support services
    • Reconcile Primero Edge with General Ledger
    • Review Food service Production Reports
    • Monitor and Reconcile Referenda spending. Preparing reports.
    • Prepare Journal entries and monthly adjustments for schools, building services and food services

  • Other
    • Budget Liaison support for school buildings including month meeting and training
    • Communication and strong team spirit.
    • Support to the Accounting Services Team.
    • Support to Auditors.
    • Leadership and creative thinking when problem solving.
    • Complete special projects as assigned.


    Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting plus at least five years accounting work experience or equivalent combinations of experience and formal education.
    • Experience with large scale accounting software solutions.
    • Experience in managing in a team environment
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, including strategic use of spreadsheets to streamline workflow.


    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to work toward improving one's own cultural competence, ie, valuing difference/diversity, recognizing personal limitations in one's skills and expertise, and having the desire to learn in these areas.
    • Demonstrate ability to communicate positively and effectively both orally and in writing.
    • Ability to reengineer current procedures to maximize district procedures.
    • Demonstrate leadership and strong interpersonal skills to accounts payable staff and other district employees.
    • Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality.
