Position Overview: The Senior Behavioral Health Services Manager oversees the Behavioral Health Services team, including supervision of Peer Managers and Behavioral Health Leads. This individual is responsible for implementing evidence-based practices, training staff, ensuring Medicaid billing compliance, and guiding day-to-day operations to ensure high-quality service delivery. This position works in collaboration with the Director of In-door Sheltering and the Director of Villages.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning
    • Collaborate with the Director of Behavioral Health to align departmental goals with the agency's strategic objectives.
    • Monitor and report on program outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
    • Collaborate with inter-agency stake holders to implement programming.
  • Day-to-Day Operations and Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with Medicaid billing guidelines, leveraging "The Golden Thread" principles.
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures to enhance service delivery.
  • Voice
    • Establishes avenues for participant feedback and advocates for program changes in response to input.
    • Reflects on agency initiatives through equity practices, trauma-informed care, and clinical perspectives.
  • Community Engagement
    • Foster partnerships with external agencies to enhance service delivery.
    • Advocate for client needs within the organization and in the community.
  • Training and Development
    • Provide training to direct care staff on critical topics, including:
    • Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI)
    • Assertive Engagement
    • Crisis Intervention
    • Case Management
    • Trauma-Informed Care (TIC)
    • Mental Health First Aid
    • Boundaries and Ethics
    • De-escalation
    • Implement and oversee training protocols to maintain staff competency.
  • Administration
    • Ensure that the Department budget is used effectively and strategically to further department/agency goals through the fiscal year. Ensure that any issues are communicated to the Director or Executive team as necessary.
    • Adhere to all state and federal privacy and security regulations applicable to the program, and to Sunstone Way's policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security.
    • Participate in compliance, quality assurance and quality improvement activities as directed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervise Peer Manager.
  • Supervise Behavioral Health Leads.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Expertise in Behavioral Health Services and Medicaid billing processes.
  • Leadership and curriculum-building experience in behavioral health settings.
  • Ability to train staff on key behavioral health practices and ethics.
  • Strong organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in managing diverse teams and fostering an inclusive environment.

Qualifications:
  • QMHP designation in a behavioral health field.
  • 3+ years of Medicaid billing experience with knowledge of "The Golden Thread" principles.
  • 3+ years supervising QMHA or direct care staff.
  • 3+ years of leadership in behavioral health services.
  • 3+ years of curriculum building.
  • 3+ years of experience training direct care staff on best practices, including the listed topics.

Additional eligibility requirements:
  • Sufficient manual dexterity and physical ability to perform assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to pass a background check upon offer.
  • Must be able to work in a drug-free environment.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and be punctual.

Experience
  • Five or more years in Medicaid billing, including applying the "Golden Thread" documentation process.
  • Five or more years supervising Qualified Mental Health Associates (QMHAs) or direct care staff. Five or more years in behavioral health leadership roles.
  • Five or more years developing training curricula for direct care staff.
  • Expertise in Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI), Assertive Engagement, Crisis Intervention, Case Management, Trauma-Informed Care (TIC), Mental Health First Aid, Boundaries and Ethics, and De-escalation techniques.

Work environment:

Working indoors and outdoors in heat and cold | Slippery and uneven walking surfaces | Working in close proximity to others | Exposure to offensive odors

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50lbs | Bending, stooping, reaching | Sitting for extended periods of time | Standing for extended periods of time.

Travel required:

Occasional travel to and from other work sites up to 70% of the time.
