Our Family Vet has an exciting opportunity for a full time Assistant Medical Director to join the Our Family Vet network overseeing our three locations in Bullard, Jacksonville, and Kilgore, TX. This position offers a six-figure salary plus production, a generous signing bonus package, and is an excellent environment to practice medicine while providing medical leadership and ensuring exceptional client services are delivered.

About the Position

In partnership with the Medical Director and Hospital Manager, the Assistant Medical Director is responsible for the financial performance and general operations of the hospital. In addition, the Medical Directors are responsible for cultivating a supportive and collaborative team environment, leading staff and practice, advancing medical care, and ensuring the growth and financial health of the hospital.

Our Family Vet is a great atmosphere to make the transition from academic training into real clinical settings or bring your expertise to help lead us to the future. This three-building hospital group treats approximately 90% small animals, and 10% horses, cattle and show animals. Mixed experience is not required, but case load available for interested mixed practitioners. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside a high-level team providing wellness and preventative care, internal medicine and a wide variety of surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Examine animals to assess their health and diagnose problems
  • Treat and dress wounds
  • Perform surgery on animals
  • Test for and vaccinate against diseases
  • Operate medical equipment, such as x-ray machines
  • Advise animal owners about general care, medical conditions, and treatments
  • Prescribe medication
  • Work closely in collaboration with team members to provide high quality care

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
  • Licensure in the state/s candidate will be working
  • Ability to show compassion to both pets and their owners
  • Outstanding dexterity in handling animals while performing precise tasks
  • Ability to react quickly and make decisions under pressure about the wellbeing of an animal
  • Strong fondness and understanding of animals
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of animal behavior
  • Ability to use medical technologies during diagnosis, research and surgery of animals
