Unit context
Group Strategy Office (GSO) provides leadership and support in strategy, foresight, development and management efforts across the World Bank Group. It promotes the alignment, quality and coherence between the World Bank Group's individual strategies.
Group strategy office is led by the Director whose primary responsibility is supporting the Senior Leadership and their teams to deliver on the WBG mission of creating a world free of poverty on a livable planet.
We are seeking four Strategy Officers who will support the Director of the Group Strategy Office (GSOD) in designing, developing, and aligning strategy initiatives across the World Bank Group. This role will focus on establishing strategic frameworks, fostering innovation, and ensuring that strategic goals are ambitious and consistent with the organization's mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategy, policy and analytical research to support the work of the GSO as assigned by the Director. Ensure forward-thinking strategies through analytical pieces that identify various possible futures and develop responses.
Support the coordination and alignment of WBG strategy design and development approaches.
Prepare the initial drafts of documents, presentations, and background notes required for various strategic and corporate initiatives.
Contribute to the process of updating the WBG strategic vision with foresight analytics, including coordination with the President's Office (EXC) around Board Strategic Engagements.
Support the development of initiatives that heighten the WBG reputation and brand as a leader in global development.
Support in developing and executing a multi-year strategy implementation plan with clear objectives and milestones.
Collaborate with senior leadership and key stakeholders to ensure strategic priorities are aligned and support higher efficiencies and improved quality of service delivery.
Represent the GSO in various internal and external forums, contributing to strategic engagements.
Support the alignment of key strategic and cross-cutting issues and corporate priorities with GSO's overall work program, working closely with the responsible directors and managers.
Undertake research, planning and other tasks to inform the development and implementation of the strategy, as directed by the Director, and working closely with others in the MDCAO office.
Note: This internal requisition is open to WBG and IMF staff only (including short-term and extended term consultants/ temporaries). External candidates are requested not to apply. In case an external candidate applies, their application will not be considered.
Selection Criteria
Master's degree in a business administration, international policy, economics or other relevant field/discipline with a minimum of five years of work experience in global strategy functions, business management, or international policy.
Ability to think strategically and critically, conduct sound analysis, prioritize, and find practical solutions to complex issues
Experience working across disciplinary boundaries and with multiple stakeholders in building collaborative alliances.
Strong interpersonal, diplomatic, and partnership skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to operate effectively in a multicultural and diverse global environment.
