Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) will be responsible for providing comprehensive mental health care to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of psychiatric conditions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in psychiatric care, a deep understanding of mental health issues, and a commitment to delivering patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health (PMHNP).
• Valid and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in Wisconsin.
• Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent.
• Proven experience in psychiatric nursing or mental health care, preferably in a clinical setting.
• Experience in a specific psychiatric specialty (e.g., child/adolescent, geriatric, substance abuse).
• Familiarity with telehealth and remote care practices.

Responsibilities Include:

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments of patients.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on diagnostic assessments.
• Prescribe, monitor, and manage psychiatric medications in accordance with best practices and regulations.
• Provide psychotherapy and counseling to patients as needed.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychologists, social workers, and primary care providers, to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
• Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
• Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of psychiatric research, best practices, and treatment modalities.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
• Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and continuing education opportunities.
