Summary
The LR/HR Manager will serve as the lead Human Resource business partner in a unionized manufacturing facility. The incumbent will lead key HR strategic and operational initiatives that include employee and labor relations, recruitment, training, performance management and employee development. The incumbent will report to the Chief Human Resources Officer and will participate in corporate HR related initiatives. Integral to the position is LR/HR consultation to the plant general manager and plant staff.

The LR/HR Manager will serve as the lead Human Resource business partner in a unionized manufacturing facility. The incumbent will lead key HR strategic and operational initiatives that include employee and labor relations, recruitment, training, performance management and employee development. The incumbent will report to the Chief Human Resources Officer and will participate in corporate HR related initiatives. In the area of labor relations, the incumbent must be able to:
- Provide input on economic and wage data in preparation for negotiations.
- Negotiate and draft labor agreements.
- Interpret and administer contracts with respect to employee wages, salaries, pensions, grievances, healthcare, union and management practices and other areas of contract management.
- Work with the local union representatives in a professional manner.
- Reconcile grievances at the local level.
- Work independently with minimal guidance.
- Settle labor issues and disputes without disruption to manufacturing
- Coordinate and lead labor contract negotiations activities for the facility and provide support for National Table Bargaining.
- Serve as a liaison between plant management and union leadership for the resolution of issues related to the labor agreement, as well as established work rules and policies.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Labor Relations, or a related field.
- Advanced Degree, MBA a plus.
- SPHR, SHRM, or related human resource certification.
- 7-10 years' experience in a human resource/labor relations experience in a union environment.
- Previous active participation in contract negotiations, including acting as Chair or Co-Chair through resolution of negotiating process.
- Extensive knowledge of Federal, State and Local laws pertaining to employment and labor.
- Exceptional employee relations skills with extensive experience resolving issues.
- Demonstrated delivery of results in customer and employee satisfaction, HR process improvement, maintaining positive employee relations, HR process implementation and support.
- Strong teaming skills, project management and influence skills are essential, as the role requires cross-organizational coordination
- Must be reliable, dependable and extremely trustworthy.
- Candidate must be able to interact effectively with all levels of employees.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment are essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, computer skills, and coaching skills required.
