Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world's largest online services.

This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.

Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.

This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to ( 50)% .

Responsibilities:

The Datacenter Engineering Design Manager will manage the engineering scope, schedule, and budget for greenfield, brownfield andretrofitengineering / designprojects. This position will manage internal and external resources for the delivery of the Datacenter building, power, cooling, telecom, and controls infrastructure to align with Microsoft Corporation datacenter capacity roadmap for the Americas.

The DatacenterDesign Managerwill be responsible for thefacilitation and deliveryof Microsoft's industry-leading datacenterdesigns including the development of innovative technology and advanced concepts from Site Due Diligence through design development,permitting,construction, and the turnover toOperations.

This role will:
  • Provide design management, technical direction, decision-making and overall leadershipfor our datacenter designs.
  • Overseethedelivery ofmultiple, concurrent,completeDatacenter designsolutionsaligned with the scopes, schedules,and budgetsof the projects.
  • Engage with key MS stakeholder groups withinMicrosoftas well as outside vendorswhospecialize in datacenter architecture and engineering.

Qualifications:

Required / Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering
  • Registered / Chartered Engineer or Architect
  • Minimum of10 years of experience inengineering, equipment and/or construction for mission critical or high-tech industry.
Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
