Glenbrook High School District 225 seeks a dynamic educational professional to serve as the next Director of Special Education. The position is scheduled to commence on July 1, 2025.
The Director of Special Education plays a pivotal role in ensuring equitable access to education and support services for high school and transition-aged students with disabilities. This position involves comprehensive oversight of special education services, collaboration with key stakeholders, managing budgets, supporting evidence-based practices and programming for academic growth and achievement, and adherence to legal and regulatory requirements. The Director of Special Education serves as a member of the Educational Service Department and works closely with the Director of Teaching and Learning and the Director of Student Support to assist the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services in meeting the mission and vision of the district.
Applicants should hold the following education/experience qualifications:
Master's degree in special education or related specialty field. Professional Educator License with a General Administration or Principal endorsement. Special Education Director Endorsement required or in process to be completed. Minimum of five (5) years experience in high school-level leadership. Principal Evaluator Designation (preferred). Teacher Evaluator Designation (preferred). Staff Development Experience (preferred). Possess specialized knowledge in the field of special education, including a thorough understanding of legal mandates, fiscal management, and evidence-based practices. Demonstrate strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills through the ability to build trusting, collaborative relationships with administration, staff, students, parents, other districts, and partnerships within the community. Ability to make rational decisions, problem-solve, and effectuate change. Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and schedules, deal with frequent interruptions, and work as part of a team. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The base salary for licensed administrators will be determined by their placement on the teacher salary schedule, with an additional position-specific factor of 1.34. The 2025-2026 Teacher Salary Schedule is expected to be released in Spring 2025, and will be based on the consumer price index (CPI).

This position comes with a competitive compensation package, family health and dental insurance, full tuition reimbursement, and basic life insurance coverage of up to two times the individual's annual base salary, capped at a maximum of $500,000.
