A Senior Energy Underwriter will independently conduct technical based underwriting and risk analysis on a portfolio of large industrial clients. Typical occupancies within the portfolio will include property, power generation, manufacturing, mining, chemical, oil & gas and infrastructure. The primary focus of the position is enhancing client based relations in support of and in accordance with SCOR Business Solutions global practices, underwriting guidelines and marketing strategies. Underlying this framework is the expectation to participate in a team environment to achieve the objectives of the SCOR organization.

Responsibilities
- Holistic responsibility in managing and growing a portfolio of accounts and associated relationships in accordance with Single Risk goals, guidelines and procedures.
- Responsible for two underwriters requiring oversight, development and guidance.
- Coaching, mentoring, performance reviews and handling employee relations
- Marketing broker and insurance companies to obtain suitable business and negotiate acceptable terms and conditions. Extensive knowledge of property broker networkis important.
- Travel throughout the region serviced by the office is required (Region - Canada: focus Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver and Montreal).
- Evaluating the technical aspects of risks, both from an engineering and underwriting standpoint and determination of acceptable risk exposure.
- Determining acceptable underwriting terms and conditions to write profitable business.
- Underwriting utilizing SCOR's Underwriting Platform (UP), in accordance with Underwriting Guidelines and Procedures.
- Issuance of necessary contractual documents such as quotes, binders, policies, certificates, invoices and endorsements.
- Maintenance of complete electronic underwriting files.
- Review and approval of policy wording.
- Assistance with premium collections when necessary.
- Evaluation of claims, in co-operation with the claims department.
Qualifications
Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years technical underwriting, claims adjusting or loss control experience with large industrial property risks is required.
- A strong knowledge of the primary broker network that places these risks.
Personal Competences:
- Excellent analytical and communication skills and negotiating ability.
- Advanced in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
Required Education
- Bachelor Degree required - an engineering degree preferred, but not mandatory
- CIP or FCIP designations or other insurance studies preferred
