SUMMARY: Relevant Power Solutions (RPS) is a diversified power company with extensive experience with aero-derivative gas turbines. At our manufacturing facility in Houston, we design, build, and test gas turbine packages for use in the power generation and gas compression markets. In addition to packaging, we also provide Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services, integrating gas turbine packages with Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment, to provide a turnkey power plant solution. We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the RPS team and make an immediate impact and play a crucial role in both packaging and EPC projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to design various systems and components for gas turbine packages and EPC Projects.
  • Develop and review electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and equipment specifications, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project requirements.
  • Create Engineering Specifications for equipment such as generators, transformers, switchgear, power distribution systems, motors, MCC's, control cabinets/systems, auxiliary power, lighting, and safety systems. Review vendor submitted materials against Engineering Specifications and project requirements.
  • Select components for Bills of Material (BOMs) and work closely with procurement to source materials and components.
  • Contribute actively in design reviews and provide input for continuous improvement of product and project designs.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve design issues and implement design improvements, cost reductions, or customer-specific requirements as needed.
  • Support manufacturing, testing, and field installation efforts by providing technical expertise and by troubleshooting issues.
  • Stay up to date with continuing education, industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in electrical engineering, incorporating relevant innovations into project designs.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by management as required to meet the project goals and objectives.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering from four-year college or university.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, preferably in a design or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering and design principles, including ohm's law, circuit design, 3 phase power, equipment and cable sizing, rules of protections for over/under voltage, overcurrent and differential; area classification, enclosures per NEMA and IEC/IP, and industry standards (e.g. IEEE, IEC, NEC),
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Outlook, AutoCAD, or similar software.
  • Detail-oriented with good problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Direct experience with gas turbines or other turbomachinery is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Occasionally required to stand, sit and walk.
  • Occasionally required to step up and down, climb ladders up and down to equipment level.
  • Occasionally required to use light tools and multi-meter.
  • Frequently required to talk or hear.
  • Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts and/or electrically charged circuits.
  • Occasionally exposure to outside weather conditions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
