This is a supervisory professional who manages and directs the post-award research accounting activities of the University which comprise $60M. The Director oversees all the post award fiscal administration, regulatory compliance policies and processes, and audit of all research contracts and grants awarded to the University. The Director is responsible for working with the Controller and accounting staff, financial systems, procurement and department managers and principal investigators and others to assure compliance with all required federal and state regulatory guidelines. This includes billing and collections, financial reporting, and maintenance of grant related data. Daily activities include the management of senior grant accountants, customer-focused expenditures and cost transfer reviews as well as grant closeout activity.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Sponsored Programs Accounting oversees the post award fiscal administration of all contracts and grants awarded to the University. The Director will direct the accounting activities of accountants within the Sponsored Programs Accounting Office. Supervise and monitor activities of sponsored research accounts for appropriateness and compliance with regulations. Oversee and monitor post award compliance and financial reporting. Monitor all accounts receivable, design and develop collections methods and identifies "at risk" projects. Monitor and approve cost transfers. Oversee effort reporting process and monitor cost sharing. Approximate of time spent: 40%
Develops and implements fiscal policies and procedures to ensure grant compliance. Oversees and monitors fiscal compliance with sponsor regulations and regulations imposed by federal and state agencies. Approximate of time spent: 15%
Communicates with Principal Investigators and administrative personnel campus-wide regarding contracts and grants accounting matters. Interacts with PI's and or appropriate business offices on campus regarding "at risk" projects. Designs, oversees and conducts training programs to ensure fiscal compliance. Approximate of time spent: 15%
Monitors key agencies (e.g. OMB, NIH, NSF, DOD, etc.) to stay abreast of new and or revised regulations. Communicates campus-wide notification of new and revised regulations. . Approximate of time spent: 15%

Education & Work Experience:
- MS/MA/equivalent required.
- 5-8 years of related work experience including 3-5 years supervisory experience.
