Position Summary:

Responsible for the Purchasing operations and business metrics for the department. Interacts with other operational areas to include manufacturing, engineering, and accounts payable to ensure accuracy and efficiency in the placement of all purchase orders, obtaining quotes, lead time and availability of equipment, materials, supplies, and to ensure timely delivery.

Essential Functions:
  • Manage supplier selection process for new and current projects and contracts.
  • Prepare and obtain requests for quotation.
  • Prepare and present weekly metrics to management team.
  • Research the availability, quality, and price of equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Make necessary adjustments with suppliers regarding replacements, incomplete orders or damaged supplies or materials.
  • Negotiate as required to maximize cost savings and service.
  • Investigate and develop new authorized supply sources.
  • Expedite delivery of purchased materials and supplies when needed.
  • Prepare and administer purchase orders from issuance through closure.
  • Follow-up with departments to ensure supplier performance meets manufacturing needs.
  • Update and follow written purchasing procedures.
  • Visit vendors as needed.
  • Manage day-to-day performance of buyers.

Work Experience, Education, and Skills:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years related work experience.
  • Work experience using MS Office to include Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams; ability to use other software programs to access company data and information.
