JOB PURPOSE
We are proud to announce the establishment of MSC Cruises Technical Department USA, a key milestone in our continued growth. This new entity will provide marine and technical support to the MSC Cruises fleet within the USA region and will serve as a vital link to our MSC Cruise Management office in London. As Technical Manager, you will be responsible for supervising the Engine Operations of the MSC Cruises US-managed fleet. This will include operations such as maintenance of Ships machinery equipment, facilities and systems including Diesel Generators, boilers and other auxiliaries.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Oversees all machineries activities, including hotel technical, with particular focus on USCG and USPHS matters
Carries out ship rides to clearly report the Ships' condition status
Highlights any critical points to the Ship's Superintendent
Reviews and updates the maintenance schedules, in agreement with Ship's superintendent, based on Ship survey findings and results
Ensures that reports and repair specifications are issued accurately and reflect the condition of the ships - and ensures that all repairs are completed to the required standard
Monitors the on-board critical spare parts PAR levels and highlights any deficiency revealed during Ships' surveys.
QUALIFICATIONS (skills, competencies, experience)
Experience sailing as 1st Engineer (or higher) on Cruise Ships
Existing shore-based experience in the Cruise industry is an advantage
Good knowledge of the English language is required, additional language skills are an advantage
MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
Ability to effectively plan, organize, delegate and control the work process
Broad general knowledge of shipping and environmental laws and regulations including class regulations (BV, RINA)
VISA REQUIREMENTS (if any)
US Passport or US Permanent Resident
