Description:
The Manager of Sustainability and Energy will be responsible for setting direction and leading the company-wide initiatives focused on energy and carbon footprint reduction through waste diversion, energy generation, and resource recovery. This role will involve creating carbon credits and offsets to drive sustainability efforts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and lead the team responsible for the "E" in ESG for the entire organization.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities in energy spend, consulting, tipping fees, and energy procurement.
- Oversee projects related to anaerobic digestion, renewable natural gas (RNG) production, and incorporation of innovative technologies like Lystek.
- Evaluate and optimize energy sources including diesel, gasoline, natural gas, propane, and electricity.
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers, partners, and regulators to drive sustainability initiatives.
- Drive revenue generation from energy, carbon credits/offsets, and product sales.
- Lead initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and increase energy from waste.
- Evaluate and implement technologies for optimizing energy generation, including direct heat, electricity, and drying of materials.
- Drive waste diversion and recovery efforts by evaluating new technologies and processing methods.
- Manage carbon credit and offset markets, including measurement and reporting on the corporate carbon footprint.
- Develop individual product/services carbon footprints and create carbon credits/offsets based on waste diversion and energy initiatives.
- Stay informed about clean fuel regulations, offset markets, and Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) management.
- Lead sustainable marketing initiatives to promote the company's environmental efforts.

- Review important correspondence and submissions prior to sending.

- Relationship management:
- Develop relationships with new customers.
- Maintain positive structured and strategic customer relationships with existing customer base.
- Build and maintain relationships with key industry leaders.
- Mentor direct reports to assist in their professional growth and development.
- Contribute to growing business and revenue opportunities across all lines of business.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Proven experience in leading sustainability and energy management initiatives in a corporate setting.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to drive complex initiatives from conception to implementation.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of carbon footprint reduction strategies, waste diversion, energy generation, and resource recovery technologies.
- Familiarity with carbon credit markets, clean fuel regulations, and sustainable marketing practices.
