Old Second is seeking a producing Commercial Banking manager to lead a small team of Commercial Bankers in the Greater Chicagoland area. This is a hybrid role with an opportunity to office in any of Old Second's many branch locations.

Position Overview

The Managing Director, Community Banking is a producing manager who is responsible for managing a small team of Community Bankers within the Greater Chicago geographic region. This role is responsible for growing and retaining profitable relationships within the Community Banking through Middle Market segments (Companies with annual revenues up to $50 million).

The Managing Director produces and oversees book growth with an emphasis on holistic client relationships that include lending, deposit and cross sale opportunities.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assumes overall management responsibility for the profitable commercial loan growth for area or region of responsibility.
  • Collaborates with team to create comprehensive business plan, monitor plan results, and maintain or modify plan as indicated.
  • Overall responsibility for human resource management activities within area or region of responsibility, including: performance management, recruitment, selection, and hiring, etc.
  • Functions as primary sales coach for lenders, utilizing Situational Leadership II concepts and techniques. Coaches on both sales techniques and credit analysis.
  • Serves as sounding board and gatekeeper for lenders on deals and viability of credits, to ensure compliance with organizational credit and other policies and procedures.
  • Participates in business development activities and maintains own production goals and book of business.
  • Serves as the "face of the community" through the establishment and nurturing of local centers of influence, networking groups, boards, chambers, etc.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in related area of study and eight years in Commercial Banking in positions of increasing responsibility including experience with customers who are both geographically relevant and who are within the scope of Old Second's target Commercial clients.

Competencies
  • Proven relationship management skill and the ability to establish rapport with business owners.
  • Leadership qualities including a high degree of influence of employees, business partners, and customers
  • Well defined knowledge and understanding of credit and credit quality, as well as the ability to comprehensively understand the banking/financial needs of current and prospective customers.
  • Experience calling on new customers and prospects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong listening skills.

Preferred, but not required
  • Three years management experience leading a team of production-oriented/sales driven lending executives.

Location Details

This position is considered a hybrid role. With management approval, an incumbent may work a combination of remote and onsite work to perform the regular responsibilities. Compensation & Benefits

Annualized Base pay: $143,000-$190,000

Old Second is committed to fair and equitable pay practices. Pay is dependent upon the pay range and the incumbent's knowledge, skills and experience.

Officer Bonus Eligible: Eligible to participate in the Annual Officer Incentive plan with a target bonus up to 40% of base salary based upon various performance components.
