Summary:
This Group Leader manages a team of researchers to conduct traffic safety studies, with emphasis on data and experimental research, in support of the mission of AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety. Responsible for overseeing complicated and large-scale projects awarded to other research institutions. Supports and advises the Technical Director as well as the President and the Executive Director of the Foundation on relevant traffic safety issues. Provides guidance and develops researchers in his/her group on items such as project direction, project management, and convey research results. Represents the Foundation and serve on various committees/task forces/working groups both internal and external to AAA to disseminate results and findings from Foundation's research and promote/educate others on relevant traffic safety issues.

$116,000 to $146,160
This position is also eligible for participation in AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety Annual Incentive Plan.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and guide the researchers in the Data & Experimental Research Group on a variety of activities ranging from identifying relevant research topics and developing realistic research goals to conducting analysis and managing research projects.
- Manages complicated and large-scale projects funded by the Foundation to other research institutions to ensure projects are meeting their research goals and are being completed on time and on budget.
- Assist the Technical Director as well as the President and the Executive Director of the Foundation on a variety of issues related to traffic safety research and serve as the representative for the Foundation on committees/task forces/working groups.)
Requirements, Competencies and Certifications:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to draft scientific communications and reports for leadership and make effective oral presentations, strong negotiating skills
- Thorough knowledge of data mining techniques, analysis methodologies, information acquisition, especially on transportation related topics. Proven project management skills.
Education and Experience:
- Master/Ph.D. with Major in Civil, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Human Factors, Experimental Psychology or related fields
- Five (5) to eight (8) years of research experience on traffic issues; at least Three (3) years of experience in managing role
- Thorough knowledge of traffic safety, traffic engineering & operations, human factors, statistics. Proven project management skills.
Hiring Range:
