Summary

Under general supervision, perform highly skilled work in the installation, programming, maintenance and repair of control (DCS) and business communications networks.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  • Installs, programs, inspects, troubleshoots, and adjusts electrical equipment, instrumentation, and related information systems.
  • Performs tests and maintenance on electrical and instrumentation communication equipment; interprets readings and outputs of equipment; ensures proper functioning of equipment.
  • Performs basic programming for utilities information systems; programs with ladder logic and relay logic; operates PLCs, RTUs and associated inputs/outputs; performs telecommunications networking.
  • Initiates work orders pertaining to utilities & controls equipment and information systems; ensures work orders are accurate and complete; performs record-keeping functions on CMMS system
  • Serves as a liaison to manufacturers, contractors, company personnel and other internal or external parties with respect to controls equipment, instruments, and related systems.
  • Ensures compliance with National Electrical Code and other applicable laws, codes, or regulations.
  • Works in partnership with the business IT manager and managed service provider to accomplish overall company goals
  • Works in conjunction with maintenance electricians to troubleshoot or maintain the control and business infrastructure at the plant.
  • Willing to be available in case of an emergency.

    Qualifications
    • Knowledge of IT/OT electronics and instrumentation.
    • Safe work methods and safety regulations pertaining to the work.
    • Use hand and power tools related to the trade.
    • Excellent ability to troubleshoot electrical communication systems and provide root cause of failures.
    • Ability to evaluate current electrical installations to provide optimum functionality.
    • Familiarity with VFD programming.
    • Fiber communications expertise and troubleshooting ability.
    • Interpret and/or modify PLC logic as necessary.
    • Route data from communications devices to/from applicable systems using Modbus registers, TCP/IP, or other communications protocols.
    • Considerable knowledge of electronic instrumentation, process control and electrical systems.
    • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

    Education and Experience
    • Two or Four year degree preferred in computer science or pertinent engineering field.
    • Work experience in a systems engineer or equivalent role for a minimum of 3 years.
    • Excellent work ethic and attention to detail.
    • Valid driver's license required.

    Physical Demands
    • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
    • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
    • Ability to work in outside conditions and adverse weather.

    Salary Description

    $80,000-$120,000/year
