Job Description:

Broadstep Behavioral Health Inc. is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to support our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team in Lumberton, NC that provides direct clinical care to adults in our community-based programs in North Carolina. This position works closely with other clinical members of a defined team and serves an integral role in the treatment of patients in the behavioral health continuum.

Schedule & Location:

Full-time, Monday-Friday, with flexibility and regular travel to clients in the greater Lumberton, NC area.

Job Type:

This is a fully onsite role that requires regular travel to meet with clients in the community.

Job Duties:

  • Direct Clinical Care: Examines patients to determine the presence of mental illness, completes patient information and records social and medical histories, diagnoses illness and prescribes the course of treatment. Orders and reviews laboratory or diagnostic tests on patients to provide information on general physical condition and mental disorder. Analyzes and evaluates patient data, tests, or examination findings to diagnose nature and extent of behavioral health issues. Prescribes medications to correct chemical imbalances. Advises and informs guardians, relatives, and significant others of patients' conditions care, treatment, and prognosis with patient consent.


  • Utilization Review: Assumes psychiatric leadership responsibilities to the treatment team, conducts case reviews about patient's strengths, goals, and interventions. Collaborates with other professionals on treatment plans and progress. Ensures quality assessment standards are met by following procedures identified by Coastal Southeastern United Care.


  • Integrated Care: Ensures the coordination between the MH/SA a services being delivered with primary physical healthcare providers. Consults with primary healthcare providers on the clinical aspects of the consumer being served and the implication for those consumers physical healthcare needs. Coordinates with medical staff of other providers (i.e. state and community inpatient facilities).


Required Education/Experience:
  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified in Psychiatric and Mental Health (PMHNP)
  • Current/Active DEA license/certification
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with strong verbal skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Must have a valid driver's license and minimum state required liability auto insurance;
  • Local travel is required
  • Proficiency with electronic records management


Required License/Credentials:
  • Board certified PMHNP that is licensed to provide services in North Carolina
