Job Description
Job Title: Radiology Technologist
Job Specialty: Diagnostic Radiology
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour night shift; Days-Wed, Thu: 10 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. and Fri, Sat: 12:30 p.m. - 11 p.m.
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: One year post-certification required to evaluate and/or instruct student radiographers
License: Registered Technologist, Radiology - R.T. (R) (ARRT) and LRT Kansas LRT, as applicable
Certifications: ARRT-R Required, BLS from the American Heart Association
Must-Have: Knowledge in all aspects of Diagnostic Imaging, including Surgery and Trauma

Job Description:
- Provide quality patient care in the medical imaging department.
- Perform high-quality images and exams while maintaining sensitivity to patient needs.
- Follow standards of safe radiation practice and demonstrate leadership abilities.
- Act as a clinical resource to students, staff technologists, and hospital personnel.
- Perform diagnostic radiology procedures, ensuring safety for self, patients, and others.
- Practice radiation safety, reducing exposure to as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).
- Produce quality images in a complete, accurate, and timely manner.
- Prepare patients for exams and provide information and instruction regarding procedures.
- Assist patients during exams, positioning them as needed.
- Observe patients and equipment during procedures and report/document unusual occurrences.
- Facilitate smooth patient flow, scheduling, and optimal use of equipment/resources.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, imaging personnel, students, and hospital staff.
- Assist with patient transport as needed.
- Perform IV starts and contrast administration as required.
- Perform duties of other registered modality technologists as assigned by management.
- Provide on-call coverage outside standard scheduled hours per department policy.
- Input charges and required data for procedures and supplies used during exams.
- Complete required hospital/medical imaging paperwork for each exam performed.
- Prepare room, equipment, and exam materials needed for exams.
- Maintain technical operation of equipment and notify service when necessary.
- Maintain a clean work area for employees and patients.
- Conduct quality checks and equipment maintenance documentation per department procedure.
- Be proactive in problem identification and follow up with appropriate management personnel.
- Establish a motivating, constructive rapport with physicians, staff, and departments.
- Maintain high skill level through ongoing education and share information with staff.
- Assist in the clinical and/or didactic education of student radiographers in teaching institutions.
- Participate and contribute to professional activities, including organizations and journal clubs.
- Engage in department/hospital quality and process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with all State, Federal, accreditation, and hospital regulations.
- Contribute to accreditation processes as requested.
- Demonstrate effective time management and prioritize workload.
- Adapt to rapidly changing technologies, policies, and census through priority setting and flexibility.
