Position Summary:
Jazz at Lincoln Center (JALC) is seeking a seasoned financial professional to lead its budgeting, reporting, and risk management functions. The Director will oversee financial planning and analysis, generate insightful reporting, and manage organizational risk while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. JALC does not offer a hybrid work schedule. All staff work together as a team, Monday through Friday at our offices (either Jazz at Lincoln Center's administrative offices at 3 Columbus Circle or at Frederick P. Rose Hall, The House of Swing).

The Director will oversee financial planning and analysis, generate insightful reporting, and manage organizational risk while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. Primary Responsibilities
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Generate and analyze monthly management financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Conduct variance analyses to monitor and explain operating results.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Prepare and coordinate JALC's annual budget, including master, operating, departmental budgets, capital, cash flow reporting
- Lead the preparation of quarterly reforecasts, providing actionable insights to leadership.
Committee and Stakeholder Reporting:
- Develop quarterly reports for the Investment, Audit, and Finance Committees.
- Prepare detailed financial reports for external stakeholders, including grant-giving foundations, agencies, and individual donors.
Risk Management:
- Oversee risk assessments, analyzing and evaluating insurance policies to ensure optimal coverage and pricing.
Strategic Oversight:
- Track progress against the organization's strategic plan and prepare the annual strategic financial plan.
- Develop ad hoc financial analyses to support decision-making.
Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor the Business Analyst, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
Systems and Processes:
- Review and maintain statistical ledger entries to ensure data integrity.
- Leverage financial software, including Oracle NetSuite and SmartView, to maintain automated financial models and reporting.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
- 5-8 years of demonstrated experience in financial management and analysis.
Technical Expertise:
- Thorough understanding of general accounting principles and practices.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and financial modeling tools.
- Familiarity with Oracle NetSuite and reporting tools like SmartView.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong quantitative analysis and budgetary control skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
- Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry, including pricing and risk modeling.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal departments and external partners.
- Strong communication skills to present financial data to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Tessitura or similar CRM systems.
- Appreciation of jazz and its cultural significance.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and implement new software tools.
