Job Summary:

Meneses Law has an immediate opening for a bilingual Junior Associate Attorney (Entry-Level) to join our dynamic law firm. Immigration Law knowledge is not required but preferred. The successful candidate for the above position has a genuine passion for protecting the rights of individuals, and a deep interest in making a long-term commitment to our well-respected and rapidly growing firm. The Junior Attorney will assist the operations team with reviewing cases for our clients seeking legal options. They will be responsible for assisting the teams of Meneses Law to stay within ethical/ legal/ immigration guidelines. He/ She is an absolute team player with a demonstrated record of achievements; genuinely enjoys working with people and is committed to excellent client service; is well organized and self-motivated; possesses excellent written and spoken communication skills; is fluent in technology.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  • Conducting research using legislation, case law, and other legal texts as sources to decide on a modus operandi.
  • Drafting legal texts, including reports, contracts, and legal briefs.
  • Informing your line manager about salient developments in each case.
  • Ensuring that data obtained during interactions with clients remain confidential and are stored securely.
  • Reporting on hours spent on each assignment.
  • Remaining abreast of change to legislation.
  • Collaborating with team and internal departments.
  • Excellent understanding of ethical guidelines.
  • Manage high demanding and detail-oriented immigration process.
  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to the teams.
  • Identify legal issues and develop innovative approaches to resolve complex issues.
  • Immigrant visa petitions and consular processing.
  • Work on various documents in draft and final form, such as correspondence, forms, and evidence; proofread materials for correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Assist in preparations by providing relevant research data.
  • Maintain the strictest level of confidentiality with organizational information.
  • Perform any other tasks or functions deemed necessary to the daily operations of the employer.

These responsibilities involve highly confidential and sensitive information and require expertise, discretion, and good judgement. Prior ethics experience will be considered.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal, written communication and public speaking skills.

Able to type 45 WPM or more.

Fluent in both English and Spanish is preferred.

Education and Experience:

Juris Doctor/ Master of Business Administration.

Taken or preparing to take the Bar (candidate hire is contingent upon passing the bar)

1+ years in law clinics.

Compensation:

Meneses Law believes in Work Life Balance. Operation hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. plus 2 Saturdays a month for certain positions.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education/ Experience:

Must be an active member in good standing of the Bar; knowledge of MS Office and MacOS.

Communication Skills: Ability of reading comprehension, writing, speaking to others to convey information effectively, active listening and interpreting instructional documents. English/ Spanish bilingual oral communication is necessary.

Reasoning Skills: Must be able to analyze information, problems, situations, practices, or procedures to define the problem or objective. Identify relevant concerns or factors, patterns, tendencies, and relationships. Formulate logical and objective conclusions and recognize alternative and their implications.

Physical Demands: This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, hearing, and talking. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching. May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and viewing computer monitor for extended periods. Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment. May involve moving or lifting items under 10 pounds.

Other skills: Strong knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Strong knowledge of immigration law. Excellent organizational and time-management.

Work Hours: Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with 10% travel. Must work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
