The Role

FTAI company operates a state-of-the-art engine maintenance facility in Montreal, Canada that offers a comprehensive range of capabilities to support its customers in the aerospace industry, focusing primarily on engine maintenance, repair, and exchange (MRE). The engineering manager leads the propulsion engineering team and engines test cell with emphasis on engines Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MR)O and components repairs. The candidate will also initiate, perform and manages structural, thermal and flow engineering analyses including certification of engine parts by testing and analysis meeting airworthiness authorities' requirements (TCCA, FAA & EASA). The candidate will work on the development of the Design Approval Organization (DAO) with the Quality team while providing technical support to the customer program management teams on engine fleet contracts.

The candidate will also:
  • Be accountable for departmental budget development and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure the Lockheed Martin Engine division operations and financial objectives are achieved
  • Design or recommend new or modified parts and components (PMA/DER); Certification of engine parts by testing & analysis meeting airworthiness authorities requirements (TCCA, FAA & EASA);
  • Directs establishment of structural specifications, performance of stress analysis and performance testing.
  • Initiate and manage the analysis of engine's components damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modelling of engines components including testing. Specific engineering specialties may include structural dynamics, simulation, burst margin, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis. Tools utilized may include FEM modelling, CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer.
  • Lead the technical support and troubleshooting during engine strip and build on CF34/CFM56/CF6 engine line
  • Be responsible for addressing and resolving Material Review Board (MRB) requests and other engineering snags within an engine production schedule targets
  • Be technical liaison with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) on any shop related issues. Liaise with the Customer Representative on any customer requests
  • Lead engineering support to the test cell department during engine test
  • Be in charge of customized shop visit reports; initial findings or investigation engines a required
  • Be accountable for technical presentations for Quarterly Review Meetings (QRMs) with the customer
  • Develop and maintain the work scope planning guide documents and engine work-scoping tasks in Quantum Control
  • Manage Service Bulletin review process and the Configuration Control work Lead in the financial analysis and cost reduction initiatives


Qualifications:
  • Mechanical, Aeronautical or equivalent Engineering Degree
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience and 5 years minimum management experience or equivalent
  • Experience with aircraft propulsion and engine systems and troubleshooting, eligible for, or work towards,
  • Power Plant Design Engineer/Design Engineer Specialist (DE/DES) designation, TC or FAA delegate/designee or design approval representative (DAR) or designated engineering representative (DER) is an asset
  • Experience in handling technical aspects of MRO of aircraft engines in an engine shop
  • Proven ability to conduct investigations, prepare technical reports and recommend manual revisions Engineering judgment, initiative and ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Experience in handling and troubleshooting engine problems and Piece Part Repair Cells (shop floor support)
  • Fleet experience on propulsion systems
  • Fluent in French & English Leadership - team management, impact and influence Capacity to delegate, awareness of controls and priority management
