What you'll be doing
As a Regional Director, Logistics, you will literally deliver upon Carvana's promise of a revolutionary car buying experience. You will design and implement processes for, hourly Logistics associates and multi-car truck drivers, ensuring efficient, timely and safe movement of cars from regional distribution points to local delivery hubs. You will partner with leadership in other regions and provide assistance as needed:
- Ensure all safety and operational procedures and processes are implemented and maintained; oversee productivity, inventory management, quality, and safety in accordance with company needs and customer requirements
- Implement and maintain operational processes and procedures for both transportation and inventory management, reporting on performance and initiating improvements for operations - provide direction, development, and leadership to managers and supervisors
- Establish objectives supporting company initiatives in the areas of financial performance, safety, quality, and customer service in compliance with all applicable internal and external policies
- Provide feedback for key quality, financial, and safety reports; identify opportunities to increase accuracy, optimize resources, and develop, recommend, and implement solutions
- Hire, train, develop, and appraise staff effectively; take corrective action as necessary in a timely manner and in accordance with company policy
- Coordinate operational activities through planning with departmental managers and supervisors to ensure objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Be a culture ambassador
- Implement and support consistent communication between Inspection Centers ("ICs"), Logistics hubs, local delivery hubs and Tempe headquarters
- Manage inventory and ensure transaction integrity across the network
- Maximize transport efficiency, including backhaul opportunities
- Monitor equipment maintenance and operational compliance with DOT policies and regulations
What we need from you
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years of experience in a logistics management, supply chain or equivalent position
- Thought leader and master of industry best-practices and procedures
- Ability to develop individuals and teams for organizational success
- Aptitude for creative problem solving
