GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Responsible for the Senior operations for Senior Services, including at The Retreat, providing direct oversight to the ancillary department such activities, food services and facilities, supervising Health and Human Services Community Grant and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. Provides emotional and logistical support for members (residents) and applicants of the facility in accordance with local, state and federal regulations governing assisted living facilities, to assist with transitions and ensure high quality services. Supports the Vice President of Clinical and Senior Services with the development of care related programs, report generation, and quality care monitoring and continuous improvement efforts as it relates to the areas of delegation. Will provide oversight at the facility in the absence of the Vice President of Clinical and Senior Services.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Provides direct oversight of ancillary departments as assigned (i.e. - Food Services, Facilities, and Activities); Supports the day to day operations of The Retreat in the relation to the delivery of care-related services. Work in conjunction with the Vice President of Clinical and Senior Services to ensure care delivery (food services, facilities, activities) and operations collaborate effectively and seamlessly.
Supervises the Resident Services Coordinator and as needed, participates as a member of the interdisciplinary care plan team to provide insight, direction, support and input to the total resident plan as it relates to designated departments assigned.
Recruits, hires, trains, supervise, and evaluate direct reports
Responsible to maintain an Accident/Incident Reporting system for internal uses and to report appropriate information to CRT Main office. Will review incident reports at a designated frequency and report findings as part as a continuous improvement effort.
Able to relate positively, effectively and appropriately with members, families, volunteers and other CRT/Retreat team members (staff) with a conscience effort to offer good customer service. Presents self in a professional and polished manner, reflecting a positive outward image. Communicates effectively orally and in writing.
Supports the Vice President of Clinical and Senior Services to develop and implements written social services policies and procedures as requested. Implements and contributes to the community's policies and procedures and recommends effective changes to continuously improve operational systems.
Demonstrates initiative through anticipating needs, setting priorities, taking care of routine and emergent situations in the most efficient and effective manner. Able to make independent decisions within given authority. Identifies and analyzes optimal achievable quality assurance programs to improve cost efficiency of services.
Reviews state inspection reports and resolve concerns; implements corrective measures and monitors results.
Attends mandatory and other educational programs as required by the organization. Understands infection control and safety guidelines as required by various regulatory agencies. Reacts appropriately to fire and emergency preparedness drills and events according to procedures. Utilizes personal protective equipment to protect self and co-workers from injury. Practices good body mechanics and lifting techniques.
Assume the role of "Manager on Duty" through a rotation schedule and is readily available when others need a resource when filling the MOD role. Accepts alternative work schedule to meet the community's needs.
Oversee the management of all deliverables funded through the Health and Human Services community grant
Oversee the Director of Retired Senior Volunteer Program, program deliverables, and all delegatory items

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Demonstrate excellent attendance to model the standard for the team. Accepts alternative work schedule to meet the program needs.
Performs other duties as assigned and willingly accepts change in daily routine due to staffing shortages, emergencies and/or special projects.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Education: Master's degree preferred in Human Services-related field; bachelor's degree required. A combination of college, years of experience and progressive levels of responsibilities will be accepted in lieu of a college degree on an individual basis.

Minimum Years of Experience: At least three years in the social services field, must have worked with the geriatric population. Must meet the educational and work experience in human services requirements as set by the Public Health Code and current standards of practice for assisted living facilities

Demonstrate skills: Proficient in using technology as a management reporting tool and experience working with information technology staff to develop and implement program evaluation systems. Ability to work with diverse, multicultural population. Ability to supervise, motivate, schedule and evaluate personnel and programs relative to the activities and home maker programs. Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward residents, family members, staff, medical staff, vendors, government agents, and the general public. Attention to detail, good follow through skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Skills in interviewing and counseling. Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team. Strong ability to communicate in written and oral form.

Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding and/or experience working with the senior population with cognitive impairments (e.g. dementia). Experience supporting seniors with mental health challenges (e.g. bi-polar) preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of the State of Connecticut and federal programs supporting seniors (e.g. Medicare, Medicaid, CT Homecare Program for Elders). Functional understanding of the Probate Court system preferred. CHOICES (CT Health insurance assistance, Outreach, Information and referral Counseling and Eligibility Screening)

Physical Ability: Tasks involve sedentary to light work, involving some reaching, handling, fingering and/or feeling of objects and materials.

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communications ability.

Environmental Factors: Tasks are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, violence, disease, or pathogenic substances.
