SUMMARY

The Director of MRO & Completions is responsible to lead, manage and supervise the personnel and resources to accomplish aircraft maintenance, modifications, interior completions, AFS installation activities and back-shop work including management of related work controls, policies and procedures, quality, safety, personnel, and administrative functions in conformance with company procedures and in line with schedules, budgets, and business objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, manage and ensure execution of strategic goals; continually and actively seek opportunities to drive continuous improvement and business excellence.
  • Oversee the aircraft maintenance and modification operations, hangar, structural, painting, avionics functions, and line operations performed by all skills.
  • Assists in the development and execution of the strategic plans to ensure that budget, production cost, productivity, delivery performance and quality objectives/expectations and operational goals are met throughout the completions/production areas.
  • Recommends, prepares and adheres to the annual budget and long-term requirements.
  • Ensures management team understands financial objects and achieves established budgets.
  • Coordinates with engineering, finance, purchasing, quality, planning, program office, certification and other departments to ensure that schedules and budgets are met, and problems are resolved.
  • Develops and directs the requirements for a safe work environment; ensures that stringent housekeeping, 5S standards, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements, and safety procedures and practices are followed.
  • Develops and mentors entry-level managers to have the technical skills, training and certifications necessary to perform their job.
  • Coordinate with Program Management to provide production assets and personnel to meet Company business objectives, within contractual and / or regulatory guidelines, and within scheduling and budgetary constraints.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of one or more departments by establishing and maintaining all policies and procedures that are necessary for conformance to all customer guidelines and governmental regulations.
  • Oversee the development of departmental schedules and budgets.
  • Participate in formulating and administrating company policies and developing long range goals and objectives.
  • Assure the availability of adequate staff and equipment to accomplish planned work.
  • Maintain overall coordination between departments to assure adherence to customer and company schedules.
  • Confer with administrative personnel and review activity and operating reports to determine changes in programs or operations required.
  • Participate in sales meetings, preparation of proposals, program milestone meetings, program management reviews as applicable.
  • Hold regular staff meetings communicating departmental and company objectives.
  • Establish and maintain a safe working environment and safe working practices that meet applicable regulatory, professional, and company standards.
  • Assure that maintenance / modification activities are carried out in compliance with the Repair Station Manual, other applicable regulatory, department and company procedures, established work schedules, and within budgets constraints.
  • Ensure personnel training requirements are complied with in a timely manner; improve training where practical to upgrade skills of existing personnel.
  • Complete initial / recurrent training requirements in a timely manner.
  • The Director of MRO & Completions is also designated as the back-up to the position of the Vice President of Operations & Supply Chain and fulfills the requirements of the position in the absence of the Vice President, Operations & Supply Chain.
  • Other responsibilities commensurate with job function.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead, manage, coach, mentor and directly supervise assigned staff within the MRO, Completions and AFS Installations functional areas.
  • Be accountable for the activities, workflow, work schedules, attendance, and compliance with safety, standards and policies for all assigned staff.
  • Oversee labor, policies and procedures, budgets and capital, compliance and scheduling for the MRO, Completions and AFS Installations functional areas.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • 10-15+ years prior experience in progressive Technical Production, Aircraft Completions or Maintenance environment to include a minimum of 8 years at the Manager level.
  • Ability to exercise technical problem-solving skills and crisis management.
  • Capable of representing the company from a technical perspective; maintain positive and professional customer / supplier interfaces.
  • Leadership: a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • Management: must possess the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Team Player: Must possess ability to Build Positive Relationships and to maintain cross-functional partnerships and collaboration.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including presentation skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Read, write and understand the English language.
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret complex contracts, regulatory documents, technical documents, engineering drawings, regulations, procedures and manuals.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in the English language, to include strong interpersonal skills and the ability to persuade others without creating adversarial relationships. Overcomes communication barriers. Organizes and presents information effectively to large groups in public settings.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant license is required.
