What a day is like:
  • Design, develop, and implement scalable and usable OLAP cubes to support complex business analytics needs.
  • Transform existing processes and workflows into optimized OLAP cube solutions.
  • Take business requirements and translate them into well-designed OLAP cubes that meet stakeholder needs.
  • Modify and enhance existing cubes to meet evolving business requirements and performance standards.
  • Continuously improve cube design to balance optimization and usability for business users.
  • Assess and implement cube optimization strategies, ensuring they align with business goals and analytical needs.
  • Perform performance tuning and troubleshooting of cubes to ensure efficient data retrieval and processing.
  • Conduct thorough QA testing on cube solutions to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency.
  • Implement validation processes and troubleshoot discrepancies to maintain high-quality deliverables.
  • Work closely with business analysts, data engineers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver effective cube solutions.
  • Partner with Tableau and other self-service BI tool resources to ensure cubes are designed for seamless integration and usability in self-service environments.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for cube designs, processes, and updates.
  • Provide support and training to users on cube functionalities and best practices.

You're perfect for this role if you have:
  • Proven experience in developing, managing, and optimizing OLAP cubes using tools such as Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) or similar platforms
  • Strong understanding of multidimensional and tabular models, with the ability to translate business processes into efficient cube designs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including business users and technical stakeholders
  • Data Visualization Integration: Familiarity with self-service BI tools such as Tableau, with experience designing cubes for seamless integration
  • Strong QA and testing skills to ensure data accuracy, reliability, and performance
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve cube-related issues efficiently, balancing performance with business requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with data warehousing and ETL processes to support cube creation and optimization.
  • Familiarity with Tableau or other visualization tools to enable self-service analytics.
  • Knowledge of advanced cube features such as partitions, aggregations, and calculated measures.
