Description:

Winpak Films, Inc. is seeking a Research and Development Engineer to join their R&D Department based out of Senoia, Georgia.

In this role, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing research and development activities to bring new products to market while ensuring the continued success of Winpak Films, Inc. Your contributions will directly support the company's position as a leader in providing sustainable, high-quality packaging solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage new product development projects from design to commercialization.
    Coordinate with internal and external customers for R&D activities, ensuring timely and responsive communication.
    Research and evaluate new polymeric materials, packaging technologies, and processes for flexible packaging applications.
    Maintain R&D records, update project statuses, and document findings.
    Assist QA lab with efficiency and quality improvements, including technician training and data interpretation.
    Support the Sales/Marketing department in promoting new products through customer visits and presentations.
    Troubleshoot product quality, process efficiency, and productivity improvement in collaboration with the Production department.
    Promote teamwork, effective communication, and collaboration within the department and across the company.
    Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards in all activities.
    Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager, R&D or Director of Technology.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Science degree in Polymer Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or Chemistry.
  • 5+ years of experience as an R&D engineer in the polymer/plastics industry, preferably in flexible packaging.
  • 3+ years of experience in a role that required exception communication skills both verbal and written
  • 3+ years of experience managing projects in a manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of experience in a role that required collaboration with cross functional teams


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field.
  • Experience with flexible packaging technology and polymeric material research.
  • Advanced skills in material science, process optimization, or packaging technology.
  • Experience in a formal or informal leadership role, that required coaching, guiding and mentoring teams


Additional Information:

  • This position is for a day shift.
    This is a full-time, onsite role based in Senoia, Georgia.
    Required travel: Occasional travel for customer visits and presentations.
