Senior Director of Advanced Operations
Apply NowCompany: CONMED
Location: Utica, NY 13501
Description:
This high visibility, mission critical role will be responsible for leading and directing engineering and technology programs that ensure CONMED's position as an industry leader. The ideal candidate will have a broad background spanning both operations and R&D and the ability to get results in a complex, dynamic business environment.
There are two key pillars of responsibility to this role; one) developing the strategic roadmap for global operations and enable and two) harmonizing and orchestrating the New Product Introduction process.
Developing the Strategic roadmap for global operations and enable:
This pillar includes assessing CONMED's current state and identifying gaps and/or opportunities in our infrastructure, process, technology and manufacturing equipment. This also includes strong business acumen to enable network optimization. The senior director must be a forward thinker who recognizes not only our current requirements but also the future needs of the business and makes strategic recommendations about the technology platform that will meet those evolving needs. This platform recommendation would encompass machines, tools, fixtures, etc. core competencies and may also include the implementation of robotics, bar coding systems, and comprehensive packaging solutions. The senior director will be involved in determining ROI for these capital investments, selecting the technology solutions and working with external equipment providers and internal engineering teams to implement the new technology.
Harmonizing and orchestrating the New Product Introduction process:
This pillar begins with developing a consistent and harmonized new product introduction process across multiple CONMED sites. The NPI process will start with the voice of our customers and ensure that we are meeting the customer's requirements. The process will then incorporate adherence to design controls and a toll gate R&D process. Finally, there will be a focus on operational objectives including developing repeatable manufacturing processes and attaining high CPK targets as well as determining inventory strategies and proper supply chain positioning for product launch.
Once established, the senior director will be responsible for driving this NPI process corporate-wide, monitoring the processes used and enhancing them with vigor. The senior director will partner with BU's R&D leaders to ensure that CONMED is well positioned to be fast, flexible and innovative in the design and manufacture of our new products.
