POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for all quality improvement issues related to vendors and suppliers of materials, products or services used in development or manufacture. Assesses potential new suppliers. Works with suppliers to develop and improve an entire supply chain. Works closely with Purchasing and other QA department personnel, especially Incoming Inspection.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Visit vendor facilities and observe the manufacturing and distribution environments to review and assess their processes and procedures.
  • Conduct supplier audits (combination of on-site and desk audits, as applicable) to ensure vendors continue to work in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Set up and implement Incoming/Receiving Inspection processes and capabilities, including training and guidance, to ensure correct measurement and assessment decisions are made to ensure product quality and authorized release.
  • Designs rational lot sampling systems, procedures and statistical techniques to assure the desired confidence level of outcome of inspected lots from suppliers.
  • In conjunction with the Purchasing Team, develop and implement systems & processes for supplier selection and scorecards (reporting).
  • Write procedures and train various stakeholders in Purchasing and Engineering on Supplier Quality processes and methods.
  • Disposition purchased parts/materials non-conformances.
  • Investigate and resolve supplier non-conformances, complaints and Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA) leading to satisfactory closure.
  • Manage the Supplier Quality Program, including establishment and maintenance of quality data in supplier records, monitoring of supplier performance, and reporting on supplier quality.
  • Develop and implement a data-driven dock-to-stock process.
  • Provide technical and non-technical advice and guidance to suppliers to reduce defect rates and improve quality metrics such as PpK/CpK.
  • Conduct internal audits, as needed, and support external regulatory body audits.
  • Serve as a liaison between SENS senior management and the vendors to identify quality issues and generate solutions.
  • Evaluate product and process changes initiated by Engineering, Operations, and/or contract manufacturers and assist with development of required documentation to support the changes.
  • Collaborate with Operations to monitor quality of purchased materials in SENS production.
  • Review and maintain manufacturing process FMEA jointly with suppliers.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) that allow for effective communication with all levels of organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with cross-functional departments and stakeholders in a proactive and constructive manner.
  • Takes initiative and ownership to drive department and organization goals.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical discipline or equivalent
  • 5+ years of supplier quality engineering experience and statistical analysis in an electro-mechanical device manufacturing environment
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) from ASQ a strong plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
