Position Summary
This position is a temporary full time to support the security services for the remainder of 2024-25 school year. This position assists a diverse staff, students, parents, and community in time of need, provides safety measures, and provides culturally responsive customer service. Excellent public relations and interpersonal/communication skills. Work as an effective team member to deliver outstanding care. Able to work with our diverse students in Setting 4. Capable of working independently, demonstrating critical thinking skills. Ability to accept change and empower those around you to engage in ongoing process improvement. A solid understanding while implementing FPS mission and vision.

Reporting Relationship: This position will report to the Director.

Responsibilities
Employees are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on
the specified days and hours. Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job
descriptions, but are an essential function. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not
limited to, the following:
? Monitors building entrance, provides front-desk security; monitors building security cameras;
registers and tracks visitors.
? Utilizes appropriate emergency procedures and determines appropriate role in emergency response
situations; utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed.
? Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors,
and MPS staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment
? Enthusiastically promotes the Superintendent's goals and priorities in compliance with all policies
and procedures.
? Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records and MPS information.
? At times may be required to work outside normal business hours and work extended hours to
accomplish requirements of the position.
? Respond to inquiries and assist with resolving issues that may arise with this staff; assist the
department Director with developing, scheduling, and presenting training for this staff.
? Interact with community public safety and emergency management agencies as directed including
the Police Department, Emergency Management, Minnesota School Safety Center and other
agencies as appropriate.
? Act as a resource on security and emergency management issues for staff throughout the district.
? Contribute to the District's inclusive workplace efforts by fostering a safe, welcoming and respectful environment.
? Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Considerable knowledge of safety operations
  • Considerable knowledge of the ICS (Incident Command Structure) and NIMS (National Incident
  • Management System) and the ability to interface with the EOC (Emergency Operations Center).
  • Strong ability to assume responsibility, display initiative, and exercise good judgment in high stress
  • environments.
  • Strong ability to handle and maintain sensitive and confidential information
  • Considerable knowledge of national, state and local emergency preparedness laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local emergency management organizations.
  • Working knowledge of the hazard identification and risk assessment processes.
  • Considerable knowledge of current and emerging approaches to improve security and emergency
  • preparedness capabilities
  • Ability to assist in managing the interface between on-scene command activities, the EOC,
  • multi-agency coordination centers and area command structures.
  • Considerable ability to manage resources, such as personnel, time and money.
  • Knowledge of the Threat Assessment Guidelines set forth by the U.S. Secret
  • Service.
  • Considerable knowledge of security technology including: closed circuit television (CCTV),
  • Access Control, Radio Communication (800 MHz, VHF, & DTR) and related systems.
  • Strong communication skills (writing, speaking, and listening).
  • Ability to activate and oversee the operations
  • Considerable ability to communicate with all stakeholders
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in public safety or emergency management related field
Three years experience in public safety, school safety, or emergency management.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
Security and Emergency Management experience in an educational setting (K-12, Post Secondary)
Experience in 911 Dispatch

Salary: $50 an hour/ Individual Contract
