Brief Overview:
Under the direction of the Director - Education, the Manager of Partnerships and Batoche Sponsorship assists in the development and implementation of planning, coordinating, and executing a wide range of events and activities that take place at the Batoche Festival site. The position will focus on the planning and execution of the annual Back to Batoche Days Festival which takes place the third weekend in July and attracts over 40,000 attendees over the four-day event. This event is extremely important for Mtis people across the homeland, with the gathering focus being on Mtis culture, food, dance, language and activities and requires the participation of all MN-S staff.
This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding and respect for Mtis culture and traditions. As the Government expands, the Batoche Events Manager will interact with the public, and establish productive relationships with key rightsholders, stakeholders, vendors, MN-S internal departments, MN-S elected, executives, and Elders.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Back to Batoche Days planning committee with the budgeting, planning and execution that leads to a successful celebration for our citizens across the homeland.
- Assist the Economic Development and Tourism Department with strategic planning to grow tourism opportunities on Batoche lands.
- Assist in the creation of long-term business strategies and business partnerships for the Batoche lands.
- Develop and deliver a sponsorship recruitment plan.
- Focus on developing relationships with new sponsors and for managing existing relationships.
- Draft sponsorship packages and grant applications for Back to Batoche Days.
- Ensure that sponsorship packages and grant applications are complete, executed, and updated when necessary and by required deadlines.
- Create and maintain a tracking system of all sponsorship activity such as progress timelines and contract values.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, community leaders, and external partners to ensure events meet objectives and align with cultural protocols.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, sponsors, and other stakeholders to secure resources and support for events.
- Assist in the planning, organizing, and execution of various events and activities on our Batoche grounds, including community gatherings, cultural celebrations, workshops, conferences, and ceremonies.
- Assist in creating and managing event budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, regulations, and protocols, including health and safety guidelines and Indigenous cultural protocols.
- Evaluate the success of events through post-event analysis and feedback gathering and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide a full post-event report following Back to Batoche Days with input from Team Leads to be presented to the committee and Senior Management.
- To fulfil these roles and activities, it will also be necessary for the Manager of Partnerships and Batoche Sponsorship to travel to Batoche as need be.
- Staying onsite during the Back to Batoche Days festival is required.
- Collaborate and assist the Events and Property Coordinator on other Batoche event opportunities.
- Collaborate with Batoche infrastructure team on site improvements.
- Support the creation, development and actualization of a Back to Batoche charitable entity.
- Other duties as assigned.
Management Responsibilities
- Collaborate and facilitate Events staff and the Back to Batoche Days planning committee, providing guidance, support, and training as needed to ensure the successful execution of events.
- Review and approve work plans and budgets from Team Leads.
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to staff members, delegating work effectively to optimize team performance.
- Coordinate with Human Resources to recruit, hire, and onboard summer interns, providing them with meaningful learning experiences and opportunities for skill development.
- Provide ongoing feedback and performance evaluations to staff and interns, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting open communication, teamwork, and mutual respect among team members.
- Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and dedication to upholding the values and mission of Mtis Nation-Saskatchewan.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong proposal writing skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in budget management, negotiation, and vendor relations.
- Knowledge of relevant software and tools, such as event management software, Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Eventbrite, and social media platforms.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by event schedules.
- Commitment to upholding the values and mission of Mtis Nation-Saskatchewan.
- Demonstrated time-management skills; flexibility with changing, multiple priorities and the ability to remain focused to meet targeted timelines.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, Indigenous Studies, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in event planning and management, preferably in a community or government setting.
Additional requirements:
- Must undergo a Criminal Record Check
- Valid Saskatchewan driver's license and access to reliable transportation
