Role Summary
The TMX Director is a crucial leadership role within the People Department, responsible for overseeing and enhancing the team member experience at gusto!. This position focuses on the planning, development, and implementation of HR policies and procedures while ensuring they align with the company's values and meet all legal standards.
As a player-coach, this role requires someone who is both hands-on and strategic-actively engaged in the day-to-day operations while inspiring and leading with grace. We are looking for a leader who embodies compassion, care, and commitment to creating meaningful connections with team members at every level. This is a role for someone passionate about making a real impact and fostering a thriving, people-first culture.
Additionally, the TMX Director will play a key role in scaling the company's HR infrastructure as gusto! expands across multiple markets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
HR Leadership and Strategy
- Lead the TMX department, developing and coordinating effective HR policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with company leadership to support and understand the organization's goals, especially in employee relations, benefits, compliance, and payroll.
- Drive the implementation of people-first strategies that promote a healthy and high-performing workplace culture, aligned with gusto!'s mission of being the most empowering employer brand in the restaurant industry.
Program Administration and Compliance
- Oversee TMX programs, including compensation, benefits, leave policies, disciplinary matters, and occupational health and safety.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations concerning all HR aspects.
- Manage payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness (ADP)
- Monitor and resolve compliance gaps, including I-9 documentation, anti-harassment training, and workers compensation processes.
Employee Relations and Engagement
- Develop and update employee relations policies to ensure compliance with EEO laws and other employment regulations.
- Promote gusto!'s values and culture through programs such as Heard Sessions and Values in Action.
- Manage 401(k) program compliance and onboarding for team members.
- Act as a strategic partner to shop operators and leaders to enhance team engagement and performance.
Safety and Risk Management
- Manage workers' compensation programs and support Training with workplace safety initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience; relevant certifications are a plus.
- Proven experience in a senior HR role, with strong knowledge of HR functions and best practices.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with ADP. TotalSource a plus.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to implement HR initiatives in a growing, multi-market organization.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
