Job Summary and Qualifications

  • The Administrative Director of Med/Surg is responsible for all Med/Surg departmental functions in support of the hospital mission, vision, and facility goals.
  • The Administrative Director of Med/Surg identifies cost-effective systems needed to support the business of the service line by accounting for business trends, resource availability, and changes in customer needs.
  • Consults with medical staff members; remains fully informed regarding the views of the medical staff as to the quality of medical practice and patient care within the various specialties and service lines.
  • Oversees the planning, control, and effective utilization of the physical, financial, and human resources of the entity.
  • Maintains awareness of the current and potential competitive forces in the marketplace and ensures that the entity has an active and continuous marketing plan that meets the overall strategic objectives.
  • This position establishes effective working relationships with all constituencies, including patients, physicians, employees, volunteers, and vendors.
  • The Administrative Director of Med/Surg identifies and remedies through continuous customer satisfaction and employee involvement.
  • Administrative Director of Med/Surg works with senior management in meeting facility goals.
  • The Administrative Director of Med/Surg provides for the continuum of care (nursing) throughout the facility
  • The Administrative Director of Med/Surg utilizes the PDSA process to identify, plan, implement, and monitor improvement to the care delivery systems in the facility.


What qualifications you will need:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Nursing degree required; Masters in nursing or related degree preferred.
  • Five years of Med/Surg experience with two years of perioperative nursing management experience required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of financial implications of materials, equipment, and human resources
  • Positive interpersonal skills; the Administrative Director of Med/Surg must have the ability and skills of proactive problem solving and basic computer skills.
  • Must be a team player and have the ability to function in a fast-paced environment.


CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:

  • Active and current RN, or active and current temporary RN license to practice in the State of Texas required.
  • American Heart Association BLS required. ACLS preferred.
  • CNOR preferred.
